How can this person be released on bail.

He got away with murder didn't he?

How could anyone believe his bullshit story?

This frightens the shit out of me having been in an abusive relationship. Killing women during sex would create enough reasonable doubt to avoid murder charge.

I will be writing to Attorney General and MP.

An attempt to overturn the convictions in the Laskey, Jaggard and Brown v. United Kingdomm^ case at the European Court of Human Rightss^ in 1997 failed. The legal rationale for the decisions was, in general:
1 (UK courts) A person does not have the legal ability to consent to receive an act which will cause serious bodily harm, such as extreme activities of a sadomasochisticc^ nature.
2 (European Court of Human Rights) Whilst a person has a general right of free will, a state may as a matter of public policy restrict that in certain cases, for example for the general public good and for the protection of moralss^. The present case was judged by the European Court to have fallen within the sovereign scope of the UK Government's right to determine its legality, and current (as of 1997) human rights legislation would not overrule this.

As far as I know Lakie and from what your link says the Spanner convictions still stand and the ECHR appeal failed. I read somewhere that R v Brown (Spanner case) was considered in this case and it was felt that it didn't apply.

I think this is another example of why 50 shades was fucking dangerous. 50 shades wasn’t BDSM, it was non consensual and coercive bollocks. However, it’s popularity has helped increase the myth of what proper BDSM actually is. Add in the fact that a woman’s sexual past and preferences are used against her and there was no way he was going to be found guilty of murder, despite the fact that none of the people I’ve ever met or spoken too hit around the head bar one or two slaps on the face if that’s something their partner likes. I know pretty hardcore BDSM participants who won’t even do that.

Safety is the biggest thing in genuine BDSM and no one with any real liking for it would play with someone wasted.

It’s no wonder more and more women who like BDSM will only play in clubs where you have the safety of other people around.

This is murder, plain and simple. It is horrific abuse of a woman.

Iused2BanOptimist · 27/12/2018 22:56

I didn't read 50 shades but admit to leafing through in the bookshop.
Surely what most people were attracted to was the idea of pulling a billionaire and if it takes an occasional spanked bottom, well that's the price of love 💖 for all those private jets and other perks

I do think it has been a malign influence though spreading the idea that women just love a bit of bdsm and generally normalising what used to be thought of as quite kinky.

‘Horrific internal injuries’

I have had a partner attack me whilst on cocaine and they do the most torturous things

He got off because he has money and probably paid for a good solicitor but he did murder her. I’m sure of it.

Incensed is a pretty natural reaction to that story. I felt much the same when the verdict was announced.
If I was in any way related to the female I would be looking for revenge.
I hope he spends the rest of his life looking over his shoulder.
