My landlord laughed when I complained about same thing. I moved in the end. You could smell it all down the path & from the pavement before you got to the house. I was worried my clothes would smell of it at work (girl who'd rolled up reeking of weed one morning was sacked same day as she'd had warnings before).

Villanelley · 11/12/2018 16:05

Call the RSPCA.

HelenaDove · 11/12/2018 16:05

his girlfriend leaves around six in the morning in her car. I assume to go to work Must have a very relaxed employer.

Yes and you have my absolute sympathy.

But it's still not illegal for someone to smoke whatever in their own home. That is the law I'm afraid.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 11/12/2018 16:07

Not sure the RSPCA do drugs busts Villanelley.

jessstan2 · 11/12/2018 16:08

Do you really have to use such bad language?

It is not legal to smoke in your own home ffs

It might be ignored, but it is really not legal to possess weed

Russiawithlove · 11/12/2018 16:09

And if you call the police and make a false report you are going to have bigger problems on your hands.

Russiawithlove · 11/12/2018 16:11

You show me a police force that will prosecute for someone smoking weed in their own home.

It will never happen is my point. There is no point giving the OP unrealistic advice.

EmeraldShamrock · 11/12/2018 16:11

If the smell is constant, I think he is growing it too.
The police would be interested if he was growing it.

HelenaDove · 11/12/2018 16:11

Russia what are you on about I have no intention of reporting her for anything.

What made you think that i wonder.

OP posts:
Russiawithlove · 11/12/2018 16:14

I didn't assume you would. Just the responses here urging you to were stupid.
Like I said you have my sympathy.

beenandgoneandbackagain · 11/12/2018 16:14

Report and keep reporting. I know someone who had a neighbour growing it in their loft. The whole house stank of it. The problem was not just the smell. Some local thugs decided they didn't like someone muscling in on their business, and stormed the house with machetes in the middle of the night, threatening a small child. It's not a harmless business.

daffodillament · 11/12/2018 16:15

Do you really have to use such bad language? Grin Yes she fucking does ! Sounds horrendous ! Can you just clarify to everyone Op that its drug users we're talking about not bloody actual skunks ! Grin And keep on reporting Op until something is done !

HelenaDove · 11/12/2018 16:15

False report about what My post about her possible employer was in response to CSI Blonde

What would the legal ramifications be if CSI was sacked because she stank of her neighbours weed.

Something that needs discussing and legislation if they are going to legalize this shit.

OP posts:
HelenaDove · 11/12/2018 16:18

Yes its a drug user.

Yanbu. We have just had six months if this to the point one of my kids had an asthma attack. They were in the apartment opposite and they are awfully converted so we would wake up in the middle of the night to the smell every single night and my kids room and clothes and toys stunk.

No one helped us . The landlord wrote one letter and then told us to go to the police, the police didn't want to know.
Eventually my child's nurse threatened to take action which forced another letter.
They left after not paying the rent and I cried when they had gone.

PerfPower · 11/12/2018 16:30

It must be an environmental health issue? It sounds awful, my ex used to smoke it and he didn't believe how bad it smells to people who don't smoke it. Two years after he'd gone the garage still smelt of burnt vomit (a note to anyone who smokes it; you smell of vomit).

Doesn't the landlord have responsibility?

Confusedbeetle · 11/12/2018 16:30

a bit sweary op. its off putting

they are smoking an illegal drug.
A lot. More than perhaps normal.

It is illegal. If you wnat to stop it, report it to the police. Tell them it smells every day and it is strong.

Not sure why you are going - Oh No! I couldn't possibly report it!! Where you smoke it doesn't stop it being illegal.

HelenaDove · 11/12/2018 16:32

@MNHQ Can you please clarify if there are some new rules on swearing and ive missed it? Thanks.

OP posts:
WhokilledO2 · 11/12/2018 16:36

The police won't even come out unless they think they are growing it.
In our situation a business below, a business across the road and a tenant in another block complained about the smell it was so bad.

Environmental health did listen but the worst of it was always in the middle of the night when there was no one to call out.
It was awful.
They had kids and were pregnant too.

CharltonLido73 · 11/12/2018 16:37

a bit sweary op. its off putting

I feel that too many users of this site swear far too freely and for no good reason - but give the OP a break. This is a ghastly situation to be in and the swearing is no doubt a reflection of her state of mind. I'm sure I'd be swearing in a similar fashion if I was having to put up with that right now.
