Mrs May. Who's going to replace her as PM?

After her performance yesterday it's simply a matter of time? Or is it? Who is fit to replace her? I can't think of a time when there was nobody I'd entrust the country to by voting for them but now here we are. What on earth is going to happen?

Well good. JRM seemed very peevish so now we've got her for a year perhaps the no deals will shut up for a while.

I honestly do not understand ANYONE liking JRM. He's a nasty, cruel, callous, hypocritical, snob and I suspect strongly a disaster capitalist who stands to do very nicely thank you if we get a no deal and millions suffer as a result.

He doesn't care about anyone suffering and I am shocked anyone voted for him in their constituency. I can't imagine all who voted for him are independently very wealthy with the resources to leave this country if he and his pals royally screw it up!

If you're an ordinary not very well off person he absolutely doesn't give a stuff about you or your family.

longwayoff · 12/12/2018 22:59

Graphista, William Rees Mogg, JRMs father, wrote the book, plus others, on Disaster Capitalism. He's a repellent hypocrite and if he had any sensibilities, he'd slither off and lick his wounds and haunt the unfortunate people of Somerset.

I'm genuinely stunned how the hell he got elected in the first place! I know that part of the world a bit and it's not well off particularly and relies heavily on tourism.

Why an area so reliant on tourism with no major manufacturing industry voted for a brexiter MP when they mainly voted remain in his constituency I cannot fathom at all.

But then I'm similarly bewildered that Wales voted brexit given that part of the country benefitted more than most others from being in the EU - did they not know this?

Saw this on Twitter:
she should go to the Queen & resign" says @JacobReesMogg
She’s ninety fucking two Jacob, she’s not gonna want visitors at 9.15

KayM2 · 12/12/2018 23:26

Leaving aside the party political thing, you'd think that neither the Labour Party nor the leading candidates for the job would fancy it now. In 6 months, maybe, after the apparent immediate success or failure of Brexit?

And again leaving aside the political party thing, Mrs May could be treated better by history than it appears now. She's soldiered on, apparently out of a sense of duty, and she's done OK. Who could have done better?

PollyFlinderz · 13/12/2018 03:28

Who could have done better?

Being PM was only ever going to be a poisoned chalice for anyone in the role right now.

CoughLaughFart · 13/12/2018 08:56

This is the problem. She was the best option of the worst selection possible.

NotAColdWomanHenry · 13/12/2018 10:24

Oblomov here are two sources:

NHS

ADA

Long-term stress can lead to raised blood glucose level, and raised blood glucose level increases the risk of HA and stroke among other things.

She looks after herself and I don't think these things are likely, I just said it worries me - that the risk is increased.

NotAColdWomanHenry · 13/12/2018 10:27

And obviously I know nothing about how it affects her personally, what I said was that it's the kind of situation that can cause it. i.e. generally, statistically.

I suppose you could also point out that Jeremy Corbyn's dad died at the age of 70, his mum at age 72 - one of his brothers died of a brain hemorrhage as well. JC is 69 - he looks really healthy but his family history is worrying.Wink

DarlingNikita · 13/12/2018 11:36

There just wasn’t a lot of information given out by either side

Oh please. Of course there fucking was. Leavers ignored it/didn't understand it/didn't care/whatever else they did.

NotAColdWomanHenry · 13/12/2018 12:25

But I think we can categorically say that JC isn't working as hard as TM!

KayM2 · 13/12/2018 12:28

In this case, unlike when Thatcher " won" her vote of "confidence", Mrs May has a few things going for her;

Such as; she has said she is going, so people can continue to shuffle and plot . Although she is not a cuddly, friendly person, she is not personally disliked, as Mrs T was , even by many conservative MPs. She is not looking as if she has lost the plot, as many thought Mrs T did. And, most importantly maybe, taking over from her would be like picking up the poisoned chalice that was referred to earlier.
