To report this woman? And if so to who? RSPCA?

Just seen this on Facebook tonight. It transpires that the dog is not a chihuahua but a Chihuahua x Jack Russell. She clarified this in the comments and gets shirty with the person who pointed it out. Now I'm not a dog fan and I know squat about breeding/selling dogs but is it not beyond immoral to sell a dog on a "special offer of collected tonight" like a it's an iPad, under the pretence it being a pedigree? WIBU or over-reacting to report this woman? Would it be the RSPCA?

It's on a selling group BTW

I know 'squat' too but I would suggest you go ahead and xall the RSPCA as they can at least advise you.

ShawshanksRedemption · 10/12/2018 19:26

I don't think the RSPCA would be interested unless there is clear abuse/neglect of the dog.

You could report to the mods of the selling site though.

Nissemand · 10/12/2018 19:26

The RSPCA will not care one bit.

Nor will anyone else.

The dog can be sold to any one at all, at any price, unless it's knowingly sold for fighting/bait I suppose.

Shinesweetfreedom · 10/12/2018 19:26

Yeah it’s a fucking disgrace breeding animals for money like this.
But I don’t know who can help, there are so many breeding and selling over Facebook/ other sites while their are so many animals unwanted in shelters.

GunpowderGelatine · 10/12/2018 19:30

RSPCA have a 24 hour helpline for animals in distress or danger...I don't think this qualifies but I can submit a report online.

I'm just gobsmacked that people give dogs to anyone for a quick buck. When we bought a dog through a registered breeder we had to jump through hoops (and rightly so) and meet our pup several times before the breeder allowed us to take him home.

It’s horrible but nothing illegal. Unregistered breeders should not be allowed to breed any type of animals Angry

chillpizza · 10/12/2018 19:32

The rspca won’t care. As long as it’s fed/water and got shelter they won’t come out and even if it didn’t unless there was a camera crew behind them it’s still unlikely anything would happen.

IgnoranceIsStrength · 10/12/2018 19:33

It's a massive problem. Unregistered and unregulated breeders breeding dogs often with health problems. Little to no legislation to stop it.

AntMoon · 10/12/2018 19:35

That's so horrible. Jesus, may as well make it a Black Friday offer and include a free bowl Angry

So many rescue dogs need a home, too.

But I'd be at a loss where to report it to.

GunpowderGelatine · 10/12/2018 19:35

I know I'm probably late to the news that this isn't illegal but I'm shocked. How can just anyone breed and sell dogs without regulation?! I assumed there were strict rules to things like this Sad

OP posts:
chillpizza · 10/12/2018 19:37

If it wasn’t so old the breeder would by law now have to register to breed but I think this one would of missed the cut of date. In future it would be reporting to the council which likely wouldn’t come to much apart from a breeding licence ban and they would likely still breed but under the radar.

GunpowderGelatine · 10/12/2018 19:37

I mean I know people will have dogs that just have babies by virtue of getting it on with each other rather than purposeful breeding IYSWIM but even then I'd have thought that there'd be some legal requirement to give them puppies away responsibly. Oh well shows what I know!
