Probably the dullest thread ever, but I have been searching for weeks!

We have old fitted wardrobes and to be honest they feel old fashioned, the sliding rails are broken and doors scuffed. So I thought I would have a total bedroom makeover, new wardrobes (prices new fitted but way over budget and plain styles, anything fancy over £2k)

But, despite trying every online shop and finding anything I like, there are always lots of rubbish reviews like took 3 days to put together, not very stable, etc. In addition I like matching pieces (so bedside cabinets and drawers).

So my AIBU is, AIBU to ask where you bought your wardrobes and are they good decent furniture? I am losing my mind and have booked the painters despite having no furniture to put in the room!!!!

Ikea!

Pax wardrobes

MrsStrowman · 10/12/2018 19:20

Also IKEA, the cheapest ones can be a bit flimsy but most are good. I've got a Hemnes set in the guest room that's been going strong for about ten years. We paid more for our bedroom furniture only for it to be worse quality.

I second Ikea Pax wardrobes, I've just had my dressing room done and they look superb! You can add doors and are completely customisable 😀

A second vote for Ikea Pax!

tissuesosoft · 10/12/2018 19:21

Benson for beds are good

heavenleighcasteel · 10/12/2018 19:21

Thanks Cookie I like pax but I can’t find anything that matches the range?

Mrsstrowman I have looked at next, M and S, John Lewis but you find bad reviews with them all!

IKEA pax
Mum did her own built on ones from. B&q. They're actually good quality. Made to measure but build yourself.

heavenleighcasteel · 10/12/2018 19:23

Those with Pax what did you put with them? Is anything matching or does it have a different name? Thanks!

Thanks hadn’t thought of Bensons and also B and Q to get a joiner in, that could work maybe?

Pax wardrobes

Stringofpearls · 10/12/2018 19:24

I have M&S wardrobes, they are really sturdy and were easy to build. We do also have some Ikea ones in another room, they are ok but haven't lasted as well. I always find reviews are tricky, if there are bad ones it puts me off, however if they are all good I assume that something iffy is afoot!

TweedAddict · 10/12/2018 19:24

Pax, then find a range that you like and match it all in we’ve got hemmes with ours

SavoyCabbage · 10/12/2018 19:25

I didn't know that anyone didn't get pax!Grin

IKEA. Don't know if they're pax ones but they came with the house (rented).

MereDintofPandiculation · 10/12/2018 19:27

We've got Ikea carcases and doors from a specialist door place.

VisitorsEntrance · 10/12/2018 19:27

Don’t listen to all the reviews. Some people struggle to put together flat pack that is their problem, not the fault of the flat pack.

I like Cotswolds. Not flat pack, solid furniture, but check it can go up your stairs.

StripeyDeckchair · 10/12/2018 19:28

I found a carpenter to build mine so they were exactly what I wanted. It took a few goes to find the right person but it was worth it. I then painted the doors and my chest of drawers the same colour so they match.

GinandGingerBeer · 10/12/2018 19:28

That looks fabulous @polkadotspot
I have wardrobe envy. Envy
I'm hoping to get some in the new year and do the small spare room out as a dressing room. Great inspiration! Do you have any full length ones?

cupcakesandglitter · 10/12/2018 19:29

we've got lots of IKEA Pax wardrobes, and the MALM chest of drawers :)

cowfacemonkey · 10/12/2018 19:31

Pax, if you go for the 230cm they will be floor to ceiling and will look great and the amount of storage is bloody awesome! We've put them in in all 3 bedrooms now

polkadotspot · 10/12/2018 19:32

Thanks @GinandGingerBeer ❤️ here you go! Sorry the lighting isn't great. I used the pax planner online and it gives you the exact shopping list but be sure to measure your ceilings as you need plenty of space/clearance to assemble them.

Thank you so much I’ve spent the last few hours designing my wardrobe with pax! Sadly the assembly part isn’t working (any idea how much it costs for their people at IKEA to assemble)? Thanks so much everyone x

If you’re goinh to go for full height pax, make sure your main light isn’t in the way. I think is £45 (could be wrong as never used it) we always add glue to any nuts/bolts for flat pack, seems to work

GinandGingerBeer · 11/12/2018 17:42

Thanks @polkadotspot they look fantastic great inspiration, cheers.
