I’m exactly the same. Don’t know why but I really hits me in my feels.

Stompythedinosaur · 10/12/2018 16:00

I love this film. The bit that gets me is the expression on her mum's face when she catches her trying to leave the island and helps her pack food.

I think the message is a very strong one.

SecondTimeCharm · 10/12/2018 16:02

oh definitely YANBU i love Moana... the scene with her grandma dancing by the ocean particularly gets me

Mouikey · 10/12/2018 16:03

Best Disney film ever - we watched it twice, back to back yesterday!!!

IamMoana · 10/12/2018 16:04

For me it is Moana dancing with her Granny on the beach, time passes & she's become a young woman & her Nanny is a frail old lady. The love between them gets me every time. I think it's one of the best Disney have done. With a female hero to boot!

Calvinsmam · 10/12/2018 16:05

Oman’s was one of the reasons why I left a stupid vegan feminist group on Facebook because they kept saying the Male violence in it was really disturbing Hmm

I love it. I cry even just listening to the music. 'I am moana' is just beautiful, a young woman realising who she is and how much she can do on her own, I'm tearing up just thinking about it! My children won't watch it though 😔, they are too scared on the lava monster.

FooFighter99 · 10/12/2018 16:09

The Grandma bits get me in the feels every time!! I think, because it makes me think of the relationship my DD has with my mum

It's a beautiful film I'm not crying, you're crying

Stephisaur · 10/12/2018 16:17

Every time.

Husband thinks I’m a nut job Grin

WinterfellWench · 10/12/2018 16:18

Never seen it. Maybe I will give it a go. I have heard many good things about it.

Rach000 · 10/12/2018 16:27

It's a good film. Don't cry but is emotional. We dance around the house the Moana soundtrack!!

Pretamum · 10/12/2018 16:27

Yes! It gets me every single time, especially when she gives up, then sees her Grandma, sings "I am Moana" and then gets the heart from the bottom of the ocean. And don't get me started on the end when Maui tells her she's master wayfarer her people need and then she sails back to her island looking like a total badass ready to take on the world. Luckily my 4YO DS loves it just as much.

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 10/12/2018 16:35

Yes yes yes.

I love it (and Coco) so much. The, "I am Moana" bit is wonderful and fills my heart. And yes, I cry!

IShitChristmasGlitter · 10/12/2018 22:23

Ohh you need to see Coco! You WILL need tissues though, in several places.

WhyAmISoCold · 10/12/2018 22:26

I don't cry but I LOVE Moana. One of My favourite Disney films. Love the message, love the female lead and love the relationship between Moana and her gran, who is totally kick ass.

ASundayWellSpent · 10/12/2018 22:28

Absolutely, when her granny comes to her in spirit on the boat I crumble every time

AtrociousCircumstance · 10/12/2018 22:31

When the spirit of the stingray flows through the water to her boat and you know her grandma’s gone.

When she faces the lava monster with love because she realises it’s actually the goddess distorted by trauma and she can be healed.

Madmarchpear · 10/12/2018 22:32

Oh it gets me. It makes me think of my eldest daughter's relationship with my mum. It's a beautiful story about strong women/goddesses/mothers. The scenes when nan's spirit is around her are the ones I bawl at. And her bravely confronting te fiti and restoring the world's harmony and fecundity are the ones I pride cry at.

dontticklethetoad · 10/12/2018 22:35

Oh lawd if you cry at Moana, you won't recover after Coco. I'm getting choked up just writing about it.
Both excellent films, some of Disney's finest work story wise.

TooManyButtons · 10/12/2018 22:38

I met Moana at Disney this year, while dressed as Hei hei. Was possibly the best day of my life Grin

MerlinsScarf · 10/12/2018 22:40

Me too, also the bits with the stingray spirit of her grandma, the goddess, and the ancestors.

Coco catches me every time too, but I love it. My DC gave me away at the cinema by piping up that I was 'dripping on them'!

AyoadesChinDimple · 10/12/2018 22:40

Oh yes. Moana. Coco. Book of Life. All straight up weepers for me. In a good way.

TeddyIsaHe · 10/12/2018 22:42

I love Moana! It’s dd’s favourite film. I adore the fact there is no love story - a woman can’t be happy without a man etc. And the real stop shop between Moana and her grandma is so lovely.

I was cry when Te Fiti crawls along the seabed to Moana, that song!
