To say the annual debate about the size of tins of chocolates is boring?

For the last few years it seems to have become a trend to complain about the size of sweet tins. Well more accurately tubs as they are now plastic. Surely people have enough common sense to realise if the were still the same weight as they were 10 years or more ago the price would be a lot heftier.

I know.

These chocolates used to be a huge luxury. We only had them at Christmas and looked forward to them all year. Now they can be bought for a fairly trivial amount of money and people will buy and eat several tubs in the run up to Christmas.

You can often get them for £3/4, so the sort of money you might spend on snacks for the family while watching TV on an evening.

I bet if you look at them in terms of time needed to earn the money to pay for them, they've gone from several hours, to about half an hour at NMW.

I used to bemoan this. The massive tin, one each after dinner for the weeks after Christmas are a lovely memory for me. The tin being used for keeping baking fresh. Honestly that huge quality street tin holds so many happy memories for me.

I'd pay a tenner plus for a belter of a tin, happily. I'd want old style chocolates though, apart from size the quality is rubbish now so we don't bother.
