Christmas tree chocolates

DH and I have been having a bit of a debate this evening so are looking for opinions!!

Is it acceptable to eat tree chocolates at any point after the tree has been put up? Or should you wait until after Christmas Day (as it’s taking decorations off the tree before the big day!)

Very silly I know and I can’t believe in the 12 years we have been together this hasn’t come up 😂

The rule when I was growing up was not until Christmas eve.

mortifiedmama · 10/12/2018 00:21

If they made it to Christmas day I think my mum would have wondered what had happened to her kids!

californiascreaming · 10/12/2018 00:32

Officially not till Christmas eve however. ..
... I perfected the art of stealing ones that won't be noticed missing!

BadgerWithRice · 10/12/2018 00:35

Ds has eaten them all already. I have secretly bought another bag and they will be put on the tree overnight for Christmas day

Armchairanarchist · 10/12/2018 00:43

I always put chocolate on a branch that already has a decoration on it. That way there's no gap when they're eaten. I don't think they ever make it past Christmas Eve.

HelenaDove · 10/12/2018 02:48

i did that California I used to take the ones from the back of the tree nearest the wall. i also perfected the art of working the lid off the glass Roses jar without breaking the seal so i could pinch a hazlenut in caramel or caramel keg

nutellanom · 10/12/2018 03:30

They can be eaten at any point once they're on the tree!

MrDonut · 10/12/2018 03:43

You can eat them anytime after the tree is up. There's generally too much chocolate around after Christmas to appreciate them so it's better to eat them in the run-up to Christmas.

BigGreenOlives · 10/12/2018 04:06

We don’t put them on the tree until Christmas Eve, I think they are all eaten on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 10/12/2018 04:12

One each an evening from Christmas Eve onwards, until they've all gone, and unless you're very devious and sneak the ones from the back.

Despite everyone here being chocolate-seeking missiles, funnily enough one is usually found inexplicably still hidden, somewhere on an inner branch at the back, by the person wrestling out the tree for recycling, (usually me in my pine needle magnet pincushion dressing gown).

Blacktoffeecat · 10/12/2018 05:12

The rule in our house is after Christmas Day. Before he has a chocolate advent calendar.
If any of DS friends are visiting I might say they can all have a tree chocolate though.

Sweetpea55 · 10/12/2018 05:49

When I was a kid always left them on the tree until 12 th night.

MaverickSnoopy · 10/12/2018 06:21

I put them on the tree usually Christmas eve but have been known to put them on on the 23rd. You must have one each when they go on but then the rest can be eaten from Christmas day onwards. I have been thinking though how I always seem to miss out because I'm eating other chocolate after Christmas. I'm wondering if they should go up earlier.

Somewhereovertherainbow13 · 10/12/2018 06:50

Our kids are allowed one if they’ve done something really special on any day otherwise they wait until Christmas Eve night

Drummingisfun · 10/12/2018 06:55

As kids it was one a day in the run up to Christmas. We didn't have a chocolate advent calendar though. We don't have any on the tree this year as the dc are only little and there enough other chocolate for dh snd I to eat
