Posting for traffic. Hoping to find somebody who has a discount code for screwfix? I've had a quick search on the internet but can't find any so have decided to turn to MN 🤞🏼😀

I would like to get my DF something for Christmas which is above budget but I know he will love!

Thanks in advance x

They don’t do them

LittleMe03 · 09/12/2018 17:20

That's a shame ☹️thanks for your reply

They will price match though if you can find the same thing cheaper elsewhere

Handsfull13 · 09/12/2018 17:33

Toolstation is basically the cheaper version of screwfix and have a store within walking distance of most screwfix stores.
Try and see if they do what you want.

Ohmno · 09/12/2018 17:35

Shitfix do have discount codes but they are usually account bound

LittleMe03 · 09/12/2018 17:38

Thanks @Handsfull13 I'll have to have a look. I hadn't thought of toolstation.

@Ohmno 😂 shitfix

I thought this was going to be a lot more exciting with it being in AIBU. Disappointed

RichSheffield · 09/12/2018 17:42

If you use Quidco (it's a referral website) then you'll get 1% cashback on anything brought through screwfix.

In case you've not heard of Quidco before it might sound weird at first but you just create an account with them, check if the company you want to buy from offers any cashback through their website, then click on the companies web link through the quidco website and buy what you were planning to. The cashback gets paid anything from 2 weeks - 4 months but it comes eventually! Most other services pay much more than 1% though, typically you'd get in the region of £50 for taking out a mobile contract, or sky tv etc

LittleMe03 · 09/12/2018 17:42

Sorry @JuditthIscariot

Posting on AIBU always gets faster responses.

Toolstation unfortunately don't have what I'm after.

Thanks @RichSheffield I will have a look

What are you after @LittleMe03 may know of better outlets for it.

JuditthIscariot · 09/12/2018 17:53

I know LittleMe03 but DP is obsessed with sodding Screwfix so thought it would be something nice and juicy I could taunt him with Grin

LittleMe03 · 09/12/2018 17:57

It's a vice. A particular one that my DF is after thou. I don't think most places will deliver with it being a heavy item?

OP posts:
LittleMe03 · 09/12/2018 17:58

@JuditthIscariot 😂😂 ah I see why it was so disappointing then

OP posts:
Ohmno · 09/12/2018 18:03

Most tool suppliers are used to shipping heavy items. A vice is no more trouble for them than some heavy duty power tools.

keepingbees · 09/12/2018 18:05

They do gift vouchers if that would be suitable in case they have a January sale on. They had some Black Friday deals recently but otherwise they don't really do many offers and I've never seen discount codes

LittleMe03 · 09/12/2018 18:22

My DF is really difficult to buy for and it's something he mentioned last week, nearly all of my other Christmas shopping is done and wrapped Grin

I might just go ahead and buy tomorrow if I can't find an offer. I know he would really appreciate it and only mentioned it to ask me to have a look online for him to see if there was a cheaper deal, he's not very good on the internet. He wouldn't expect me to buy him it thou so it will be nice to treat him!

Screwfix aren't actually very competitive when it comes to tools. Have you checked out www.machinemart.co.uk/ They tend to have better prices. Or look at eBay.

Completely off-topic but many years ago, I tricked a mate into coming along to Screwfix to get him to help lift some heavy stuff by telling him it was UK’s first budget swinger club… Grin

Youmadorwhat · 09/12/2018 18:33

Tool station is cheaper again you could try there!

MustShowDH · 09/12/2018 18:35

I think you should post the screwfix link to what you want to buy and someone is bound to find it cheaper on some obscure website they know!

Eliza9917 · 09/12/2018 18:56

I had a code for a tenner off a £100 spend. The leaflet might still be in my handbag but I can't remember if I chucked it. I have another leaflet on my desk at work but I haven't opened it so don't know if it's got a code in it.

I'll check my bag but if I chucked it I'll have to wait til tomorrow to check the other one.
