Because both my parents have passed away and my dd is now 18.Most of my other family don't talk or live miles away and were not really close. I've put a tree up and making it nice for my dd even tho she is 18 but is disabled with the mental age of a 12 year old.

I don't go around telling people this to spoil there Xmas but inside I just cannot be bothered as its not special to me like it once was. In fact it's pretty lonely but I make the best of it and still wish others a lovely Christmas.

This is not a self pitty thread and I know there are many others who feel the same.

I like new year as its the start of a new year and holidays etc to come

Roll on January and get it all over and done with really. Seems a lot of us feel the same way and having to sit and listen to endless Xmas songs at work is not helping.

Some people cannot understand how we all feel. The good thing it's just one day and will be over quickly.

I hear you OP. It's the most overhyped thing in the world. I'm not dreading it this year, only because we're staying at home just the two of us and not visiting family, so we're not having to deal with claustrophobia and crushing expectations! Roast chicken, chocolates, mince pies, some nice booze, and a week and a half off work sounds good to me. Everything else can go jump in the sea

Now mince pies and Christmas pudding is probably the only thing about Xmas I like
