I'll start. One of my all time favourite movies is 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'. It's one of our families go to Sunday afternoon films.

I love the line

'Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it'.

'The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.' Saint Augustine. That's my favourite :)

"Then they danced down the street like dingledodies and I shambled after them as I've been shambling after people all my life."
On the Road - widely slated but this line reminds me so much of DH.

And from a song..
"Out on my skateboard, the night is just humming and the gum smacks are the pulse I'll follow if my Walkman fades" - this line from Pavement sums up the summer after my A Levels perfectly.

"Put your arms around my soul and take it dancing."

From a song called Fantastic Place.

'I'm going to put myself in the way of beauty.'

Wild.

Living is easy with eyes closed; misunderstanding all you see.

Now I've swung back down again it's worse then it was before; if I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor.

These sort of sum up my feelings about social media!

'Just drive, David'

Ruth Ellis was the last woman in Britain to be hanged. During her lifetime, she had been taken by her lover David Blakely to visit his posh parents posh house. She didn't want to go in. She just wanted him to take her home and so uttered the above, (to me) immortal line.

I love all the lyrics from Home Thoughts by Clifford T Ward. Lovely song. Intimate and loving.

I like
"You're wet"
Yes... it's raining" from Rocky Horror.

I love "I don't even care if I look a mess, don't wanna be a sucker like all the rest" from Smash It Up by the Damned.

Those are just a couple from the top of my head. I need to think about this one for a while.

I have lots of things to teach you now, in case we ever meet, concerning the message that was transmitted to me under a pine tree in North Carolina on a cold winter moonlit night. It said that Nothing Ever Happened, so don't worry. It's all like a dream. Everything is ecstasy, inside. We just don't know it because of our thinking-minds. But in our true blissful essence of mind is known that everything is alright forever and forever and forever. Close your eyes, let your hands and nerve-ends drop, stop breathing for 3 seconds, listen to the silence inside the illusion of the world, and you will remember the lesson you forgot, which was taught in immense milky way soft cloud innumerable worlds long ago and not even at all. It is all one vast awakened thing. I call it the golden eternity. It is perfect. We were never really born, we will never really die. It has nothing to do with the imaginary idea of a personal self, other selves, many selves everywhere: Self is only an idea, a mortal idea. That which passes into everything is one thing. It's a dream already ended. There's nothing to be afraid of and nothing to be glad about. I know this from staring at mountains months on end. They never show any expression, they are like empty space. Do you think the emptiness of space will ever crumble away? Mountains will crumble, but the emptiness of space, which is the one universal essence of mind, the vast awakenerhood, empty and awake, will never crumble away because it was never born.

"There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in."
The immeasurable Leonard Cohen.

There's a song called Rosalita by Gomez which I really love. It's a song about being dumped and hurt about it and I love all the lyrics in the song, but there's a line which gets repeated which is
"I will never need you more than now". I was really hurt about a break up a long time ago, and that line really helped me, because I used to think "this is the worst bit. This is the worst of it".

Conversely, I also love the line "And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time" from a Wichita Lineman. I think that's beautiful.

And I LOVE the lyrics from "It ain't me babe" by Bob Dylan. A song which I feel perfectly describes me. It goes from "someone to open each and every door [but it ain't me babe]" in the first verse to "someone who will die for you, and more" in the last. Actually, I love most of Bob Dylan's lyrics.

And I also adore the line "she blew my nose and then she blew my mind"

And, because it's christmas (or should that be iiitttt'sss chriiiissstmaaas) Does your granny always tell ya that the old songs are the best, then she's up there rock n rolling with the rest"

And finally, none of us have really ventured into poetry. But I love Do Not Go Gentle. Although it kind-of has to be read by Richard Burton. "Rage, rage against the dying of the light"

Seren85 · 09/12/2018 01:58

"Dreams unwind, loves a state of mind". I love the song generally but that line always makes me think that in a long term relationship it isn't always going to be what you dreamed during the early days and sometimes it is a choice to love your person during the tough times.

SushiRolll · 09/12/2018 11:11

I love the song 'Blue Skies' by Noah and the Whale when I'm going through a tough time. Particularly the line 'I'll do anything to be happy, because blue skies are coming but I know that it's hard'.

It reminds me to keep hope because it won't always be this way.
