Step parent at dla tribunal

As2162 · 07/12/2018 19:54

My wife and I look after our step daughter and have appealed a rejection of renewal of child dla. They gave it the first year and said no the second. We finally have a date after a year to appeal at court. We may struggle to get sitters, so one of us may need to go.

My wife suffers from anxiety and doesn’t feel comfortable doing it alone. Also my job involves presenting evidence.

My mother thinks me going as “only being a step parent” would hinder things. I think judges are objective and look at the evidence.

What does everyone think?

You're one of the main people in her life, of course you can go !

I've gone to tribunal twice to support people who weren't blood relations and won, so you can certainly go.

Also contact fightback.

They do charge £50 if you win but youre getting professional, legal advice and theyll go through all the forms for you. Theyre so good that the DWP quiver in their boots at their very mention. They have a facebook group if you want to.scout them out.

I went with my friend. It was no problem at all. She won.
