To ask you to help me with my impromptu “Christmas Party”

So dh is at his works do tonight - and I’m feeling like I’m missing out as I work by myself and won’t be going to any work do’s this year (yes I know they’re some peoples idea of hell but I’ve always enjoyed them.

So am thinking of cracking out some mince pies, ordering some type of food and watching something Christmassy.

While I’m setting up my Netflix list and preparing to shop... any suggestions (food, tv or drinks based).

Christmas Chronicles - I loved this film (helps that I really fancy Kurt Russell), some wine/baileys. Mince pies. Treeslets or twiglets. Some bit of Wham's Last Christmas while you're prepping the snacks. Some bizarre combination of food you wouldn't normally eat but has a festive decoration on the box so you've bought I anyway. Erm. Elasticated trousers.
Oh, and don't forget to text telling everyone how much you love them once you've finished the wine.

@goodmythical I love Love Actually too - and was just looking at the Christmas chronicles too!

Thanks for the music suggestions - it hadn’t even occurred to me!

There are tons of festive films on Netflix but the best thing on there by far is the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special!

Letthenamesbegin · 07/12/2018 18:18

@pasta I’m saving Gavin and Stacey for over Christmas... I rewatch it every year. I really do miss good Christmas specials that everyone looks forward to

What about the royale family Christmas? A couple of them are on Netflix, Denise trying to host Xmas day makes me laugh

runwithme · 07/12/2018 18:26

Great idea! DH is working and I'm shattered so DC and I are watching the Grinch whilst munching on oven food. Will have a baileys once the boys are in bed, and a generous slice of Yule log!

Letthenamesbegin · 07/12/2018 18:58

I’m now actually considering a cheeseboard, red wine and mince pies (with maybe some random nibbles).
