Why, when I have a mirena coil am I getting blooming periods?? The first 18 months or so were fab. I didn't have any periods at all. I had the occasional spotting and that was it. I had a cervical screening test done a few months, the threads got caught around the swab but the nurse said she'd sorted it out. Since then without fail my periods have come back full whack. At first I was really worried that maybe the coil had become dislodged but they checked and it's still in the right place. Yesterday my period came again and it's made me feel a hormonal mess. Why am I getting periods?! Why would they just come back after a year and a half of nothing?? Surely one of the benefits of a mirena is no periods!
