And would you recommend?

Ours has faults that are not financially worth fixing so thinking of upgrading to something reliable and with a decent size boot.

We have a 2017 Dacia Duster - it’s brilliant and by far the best car we’ve ever had. Doesn’t have all the fancy trimmings like climate control or heated seats but has everything you actually need, a big boot, looks nice and is not expensive compared to similar cars. I’ll never buy anything else now and I’ve owned a lot of cars from a Mini to a Jeep.

New style Renault Clio. Looks stylish, economical, nice to drive and has been super reliable and never let me down. It's sailed through its 2 MOTs.

I love it and I'd definitely recommend it and buy another one.

MacarenaFerreiro · 06/12/2018 07:33

VW Touran. Love it. Loads of space and has been very reliable.

PumpkinKitty82 · 06/12/2018 07:35

I have a new Citroen DS3 and the boot is decent for a hatchback but not huge

GorgeousPie · 06/12/2018 07:42

Also a new Clio. It's great.

brizzledrizzle · 06/12/2018 07:42

A toyota auris, love it.

Parky04 · 06/12/2018 07:44

A Kia Sportage best car i have ever had.

Sirzy · 06/12/2018 07:44

I have a corsa and love it. Does everything I need

ArtisanPopcorn · 06/12/2018 07:45

Any chance people could include how old these cars are? If it's still reliable after a decade that's more impressive than if it's brand new!

ShutUpBaz · 06/12/2018 07:45

We have a new Ford Ecosport. Not as big as our old C-Max but great drive position, reliable and surprisingly good fuel efficiency.

ChristmasWrappingTheWaitresses · 06/12/2018 07:45

We have a Kia Sorento. We got it because we have a caravan so we needed a good tow car and it's seven-seater because there's lots of us. I absolutely adore it it's the most amazing car we've had it for about 5 years now and it has a 7 year warranty so if anything ever goes wrong it just gets fixed under warranty

Fizzyhedgehog · 06/12/2018 07:49

Peugeot 307 SW. Loads of space, massive boot. Got it for roughly 3k in April. It's 14 years old but hadn't been driven much and the owners had splashed out on rain sensors, zoned air con and electric windows. It also came with a roof rack.
I had a 207SW diesel before (well, had..it's in the garage) and that was brilliantly economic.
I commute to work...40-70 minutes each way.

FairfaxAikman · 06/12/2018 07:50

2011 Kia Ceed estate. Great mpg on the long motorway runs that are my commute. Boot big enough for three labs.

hiddenmnetter · 06/12/2018 07:55

What size do you need, how many seats and what’s your budget?

TheFairyCaravan · 06/12/2018 07:57

We've got a 5 month old BMW 220 Active Tourer Lux edition. It's automatic and we paid extra for heated leather seats. It's the best car we've ever had, I'm not saying that because it's a BMW, it's because it's so economical, the boot is really spacious, it's not a lumpy drive, there's loads of room in the back but above all it's so comfortable which is the main thing for me as I've got really bad back and pelvic problems.

We've, also, got an 8yo VW Polo that we bought when it had 18k on the clock, it's got over 100k now but other than filters, brake pads and a timing belt change we've not had to do anything to it.

Shortstuff99 · 06/12/2018 07:58

Audi R8 and Range Rover Evoque
The Range is OK but here are better family cars than either of them to be honest

Cosmos45 · 06/12/2018 08:02

Kia Sportage and like a pp it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. I got the mid range one and the amount of really good features is staggering for the price, also it’s massively more economical than my previous Honda CR-V. Big boot (perfect for my large dog). Really chuffed with it.

At least 5 seats with a big boot so thinking estate or mpv?
Max budget £7000

Cosmos45 · 06/12/2018 08:03

And the Kia has 7 year warranty

AmeliaMae · 06/12/2018 08:04

I have a Skoda. Love it, very happy with it. But it is small with very small boot.

LMW1990 · 06/12/2018 08:05

BMW X3 - albeit It's 13 years old but it was bought new by an older couple who really looked after it. I'm vertically challenged short arse and find seeing to park properly an issue in lower cars (DP has a BMW 325D and I swear it looks like no one is driving when I'm in it!). I wanted something high up, comfortable, plenty of room for DSC in the back and something I feel safe on the motorway in. These days I don't travel/ do as many miles as I use to but I find it's still pretty economical. Oh and most importantly I got it for an absolute steal!!!

ZeroFuchsGiven · 06/12/2018 08:05

Audi Q5, Always said I wouldn't be an Audi Wanker but I really wouldn't have anything else now.

LMW1990 · 06/12/2018 08:05

Oh and.... massive boot could easily get a body in there

lavenderbluedilly · 06/12/2018 08:05

Don’t get a Honda Civic - I’m in the middle of selling mine. Worst car I ever owned! It’s too low so easily hits speed ramps even when going extremely slowly.

noenergy · 06/12/2018 08:06

Audi A4, 9 years old and love it, had one before that as well.
