Vodafone Customer Service is absolutely shocking

Anyone had any experience of Vodafone and their Customer Service. I have never had so much stress dealing with a company. Have been told lies, been promised call backs which never come, promises that everything will be resolved shortly. This has gone on for over 2 months. Anyone else pissed off with them? Even better do any Mumsnetters work for them or have you done in the past?

My partner and I call them Voda-Con. Absolute rubbish customer services, took 6 months to get a refund sorted

EE are very good. No hassle, no random massive bills, good coverage. I welled up when I finally disentangled my self from VF and their underhand tactics to keep me tied in.

I had trouble for months, hours on the phone, endless promises that it would be sorted. In the end I used ceoemail.com to find the CEO’s email address. I emailed him and within 24 hours it was resolved

They are awful!! They 'accidently' opened two accounts for me, I noticed immediately and wanted to close one obviously- took 6 months and they tried to charge me for ending a contract! Resolved in the end only by going back into a shop - not the one l got it from as they were useless! and demanding they dealt with it there and then. Never again will I deal with voda-con!

We had so much stress with Vodafone. The worst being when the charged us double our usual bill and then refused to repay it because we didn't complain within 14 days (We received monthly bills from them at the time so had no way of knowing within 14 days!) One manager actually said they didn't care when I told them we would be cancelling our contract asap. When we did finally get to the end of the contract the cancellation dept tried hounding us to stay. Moved to Tesco. They've been great!

Sometimes you've got to laugh at advertising.

They're awful. My Alcatel phone downloaded some spamware a year ago as part of an update. Turns out some scam company called mymediagams had been charging a premium rate number to my phone for months. Vodafone promised to refund then didn't and denied saying they would. They changed my phone number to stop it happening again, but that didn't work. I had no choice but to change networks in the end or forever more be charged by this premium rate number for a service I never signed up to (or even know what it's charging me for)!

EE have so far been good. They didn't try to upsell me insurance and I'm paying less to have a better phone and contract.

MyArris · 06/12/2018 10:50

They keep sending (emailing) my mums bills to my brother. They live in the same house but have always had separate accounts and separate email addresses. Only started happening recently. Data Protection fail!

GladAllOver · 06/12/2018 10:51

None of the phone companies are wonderful at customer service, but Vodafone are definitely the worst.

Boredisboring · 06/12/2018 10:58

Horrible experience with them. DS left the country, called them before hand to cancel the contract. They carried on billing. Debt collectors started contacting his DGF (UK contact). Explained, but Vodaphone kept calling saying that he had not explicitly cancelled. To remove stress for DGF, he paid, but....billing continued. Apparently, despite the dispute, he still hadn't cancelled the contract. They couldn't find the phone records to prove or disprove the case.

Clearoutre · 06/12/2018 11:01

At the sign-up stage you get this shiny, happy, helpful service & once you’re locked into a contract and have a problem you’re stuck with their crappy general customer service line, usually with someone who is underpaid, untrained and doesn’t care.

Is there any merit is saying “Before I sign up, how would I deal with this problem?” And when they say “You’d need to call customer services on this number” do a test call right there in the store.

A part of me would love to do this!

GladAllOver · 06/12/2018 11:05

Out of the blue, Vodafone started a direct debit with my bank without my permission. When I cancelled it they put debt collectors onto me.
My only contact with Vodafone had been a PAYG SIM that I had stopped using a few years before and still had money on it. No contract at all.

Becles · 06/12/2018 11:28

They are truly appalling. Refused to block or delete a spam premium subscription I didn't sign up to - apparently I needed to prove I did sign up for spam at premium rates.

They don't care and have never had so many issues or lack of response
