To wonder why people admit they've name changed or amended details?

Trust me I'm sure it makes it look even more suspicious. I wrote a whole essay (I didn't post it in the end) about someone I know who has two boys and a baby girl but in the essay I said she had twin 8 year old girls. I also made up some bullshit about living in Wales when I don't and yes I changed my name... BUT you don't draw attention to that surely?! It just makes it more obvious it could be you!

I also don't get it when people say things like "I have a friend let's call her Donna" but then give so much specific information about how her and Donna have fallen out or the Facebook digs she has posted or the exact amount of money she owes you or how she found out you're shagging her ex etc you might as fucking well post a picture of the two of you!

Lighthearted people, I love MN sometimes but this does make me sit back and wonder 😊❤️

because they think if their post history only shows 1 post, they will be called troll.
because they think people actually care.
to avoid posters telling them they have put too many private info.

The Donna issue makes more sense. Donna might recognise herself based on the details ,that may have been changed anyway, but other people won't.

I have actually recognised someone, because she stated a common hobby. I looked through her history, and her past threads told me who it was. I have never told her!

One detail itself won't identify you, but if you forget to change name often enough, it adds up. Job, town, hobby, dog breed...
