I have just read forty pages of thread and it’s almost full! Let us congregate here for answers!

Yeah I agree, I think the "who is Andy" is surely most logical conclusion to this riddle/joke/BS

BoswellandAndAndyForshort · 05/12/2018 18:31

"Who the f*ck is Andy?"

Bet he's Alice's brother.

BruegelTheEIder · 05/12/2018 18:31

I'm amazed OP had so many of you going for so long.

ScreamingValenta · 05/12/2018 18:32

But didn't the OP say it would work with a female? So it can't be 'who is Andy' because And he would become And she.

MemorialBeach · 05/12/2018 18:32

If neither the OP nor the friend can openly reveal the answer, how do either of them know it's the correct answer? Or indeed how do those on this thread who say they have got it, know that they really have got it?

Botanica · 05/12/2018 18:34

The language used by the OP The BAD news is.....I really can't tell you the answer.
AND Derek (unfortunately I can't find the post but something along the lines of "I really can not say the answer" with similar highlightinf etc) is very specific. It's something to do with that.

The 'answer' cannot be said out loud.

Perhaps you might consider thinking the answer, or acting out the answer... or...

crispysausagerolls · 05/12/2018 18:35

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!? tears hair out

dogzdinner · 05/12/2018 18:41

OP said a couple of people had got it. Derek said no one had. So it sounds like they have different answers (or didn't RTFT)

Bexyboo2207 · 05/12/2018 18:42

So those that ‘know’ - does the punctuation or spelling make any difference or should it be taken as it was written down?

LapinR0se · 05/12/2018 18:45

I believe he was the boss of the post office workers. They called him and he walked up the steps to them. That’s all I’ve got

Helperout · 05/12/2018 18:46

Ok my theory is this (I didn't read all the pages so someone else could have already suggested it):

The OP said that it makes more sense spoken and it doesn't matter if the "and then he walked up the post office stairs is changed to "he walked into the post office of the library" which leads me to conclude that the content of the end part doesn't matter just that its words. And the "Boswell" is actually "Bos" and "well" two separate words.

There once was a man called Bos, well for short they called him Bosandthenhewalkedupthepostofficestairs.

As is its not a shortened name at all but a much longer one. Sh*t joke though if that's it!

JaneJeffer · 05/12/2018 18:47

I think you're right Lapin. Now let's call it a day.

MaybeMaybeNotJ · 05/12/2018 18:47

🤞🏻 For an answer

MummyVaughan13 · 05/12/2018 18:49

@derekthewonderdog @bloodyuseless you say you cant tell us the answer is this a moral thing of "spoiling the magic" or is it that you cant say because you need to show it.. could you not guide us to your conclusions without revealing said answer..... or is it none of these reasons and youre simply chanting the phrase "i know something you dont know neenuh neenuh" at your screens?

BloodyUseless · 05/12/2018 18:52

I'm just following the rules of the riddle. I can tell you an answer but it wouldn't be right. I mean we've been exchanging wrong answers all day haven't we? That's all we can do. We literally cannot reveal the "correct" answer.

dogzdinner · 05/12/2018 18:56

What are the rules?

Pearlsofmadness · 05/12/2018 18:57

Well, that was an absolute waste of time.

Unfortunately, OP is a troll.

If she was genuine, she could just tell us the answer. She said in the first thread that her friend’s mother had promised to tell her on her wedding day if she remembered to ask her, so if she was genuine the she would be able to tell us now that she knows.

Gutted I’ve wasted so much time thinking about it.

MaybeMaybeNotJ · 05/12/2018 18:57

So in short there is no correct answer? It’s open to interpretation?

Talith · 05/12/2018 18:59

We need a persistent toddler. The kind who wears you down so eventually you comply. If anyone has one resisting bedtime perhaps set them on the case.

BoswelliaGoldMyrrh · 05/12/2018 19:00

The rules are there are no rules. À la Mornington Crescent. But it's not a Mornington Crescent game, as that would imply there would be a rule. So it's a kind of Schrödinger's Mornington Crescent. Both Mornington Crescent and not Mornington Crescent at the same time.

That's what makes the most sense to me

BoneyBackJefferson · 05/12/2018 19:01

The answer is simple.

This is filed under smug fucking wankers.

why? Because it is designed so that those that "get it" can smugly say "I can't tell you" and try and keep you in suspense to wind you up, whilst being all smug.

So
@killingtime9198
@DerekTheWonderdog

be the smug fucking wankers or explain it, nothing is beyond explanation.

BoneyBackJefferson · 05/12/2018 19:03

going to add
@BloodyUseless to don't be a smug fucking wanker.

Drogosnextwife · 05/12/2018 19:06

Now there are fucking rules to this riddle! Who made these rules and passed them on?
What a pile of shit. A riddle has an answer, a joke has a punch line, this has neither so it's nothing just a load of tripe. Anyone saying they get it is lying. Unless they can explain it they have got nothing....fact!

BloodyUseless · 05/12/2018 19:07

I think the comparison to Schrödinger's cat is bang on.

Limensoda · 05/12/2018 19:08

It was obvious by page 3 of the original thread there is no answer.
My dad used to say odd things that made no sense and would laugh if we asked what he meant. He would just say 'work it out and I will tell you if you are right'

There was nothing to work out...and the joke was it kept him amused for years that we kept coming up with answers.
