£40 on a cheesecake??!

AIBU to be willing to pay this for a cheesecake all for myself at Christmas?? I have slices often and it’s genuinely the best thing I’ve ever tasted (I have a massive sweet tooth). It’s baked by a boutique Italian bakery near me - bit overpriced but so is everything in the area. I didn’t expect it to be that much and it sounds ridiculous but.... I’m tempted!

I’ll be spending Christmas alone (my choice) as DP goes to in-laws and I’ll be eating poached Salmon and potatoes (my fav meal) but means I won’t be going all-out with turkey/stuffing/alcohol etc (I don’t drink).

Should I treat myself??? Grin

Do it! Just be aware that the novelty of it might wear off after the first 1/3 and you may well hate it by the end!!

LiquoricePickle · 04/12/2018 13:36

Definitely treat yourself. Plenty of people spend more than that on champagne or wine.

If you can afford it, then enjoy!

LaurieFairyCake · 04/12/2018 13:36

Of course you should

But only if you post which one as I bloody LOVE cheesecake Grin

SpoonBlender · 04/12/2018 13:37

Only if you'll eat it all before it goes manky. Which is about two days max for a good one.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 04/12/2018 13:37

As a heads up, cheesecake freezes really well so you could slice it up then freeze any you don’t eat!

glamourous · 04/12/2018 13:39

I think you should buy a few slices instead. From personal experience, after a few slices, it won't taste as nice and part of the reason it probably tastes so nice at the moment is because when you buy single slices, you know there isn't much of it left so you savour the taste more - if you get what I mean!
But, it is Christmas!

KC225 · 04/12/2018 13:42

Do it. People would easily spend that on a good bottle of gin or bottle of champagne and no one would blink an eye. It's your treat of choice. Enjoy yourself OP, its Christmas.

BarbaraofSevillle · 04/12/2018 13:43

Yes, buy the cheesecake, slice it and freeze some, so you can continue to enjoy it in the new year and you don't risk getting fed up with it and wasting it.

silkpyjamasallday · 04/12/2018 13:45

100% support from me. As pp said above, you can always freeze what you can't eat and you'll be good for cake well into the new year. I have eaten one of those smallish supermarket cheesecakes all by myself before though, so if you're like me waste won't be an issue Blush

KC225 · 04/12/2018 13:45

PS. Posters seem to have missed the 'I have a massive sweet tooth' declaration by the OP. I could easy scoff a whole cheesecake to myself, not in one go mind, I'm not an animal - I'd pace myself but I could do it one hand behind my back too.

VinoEsmeralda · 04/12/2018 13:48

Do it, go and order it before sold out!

Jas0510 · 04/12/2018 13:48

Ok I think I’ll do it! GrinGrin and freeze it for the new year yum. Photo attached!

Hell Yes!!! That sounds like absolute bliss, house to yourself and a whole amazing cheesecake, so worth the £ Grin

BarbaraofSevillle · 04/12/2018 13:51

KC But it sounds like this is a very big cheese cake, of the kind where you buy it by the slice in a restaurant or cafe. It's likely to have 16-20 large slices.

Even if she has 2 or 3 slices a day, she's likely to be fed up of it and not through it by New Year, when it could be past its best.

ToastedSandwichObsession · 04/12/2018 13:56

Oh I could eat that by myself over Christmas easily I'm not one of these I could only have three slices and bebored Buy it Op and enjoy every morsel Grin

KittensAndChristmasCake · 04/12/2018 14:00

Ooh, I would 😉

Cherries101 · 04/12/2018 14:02

Do it

Orangecake123 · 04/12/2018 14:03

Do it and enjoy yourself.

Huntawaymama · 04/12/2018 14:04

That's massive but go for it!

callymarch · 04/12/2018 14:04

Yes, cheesecake should only ever be kept for yourself. Never share cheesecake. thats my rules anyway, luckily no-one else likes cheesecake in my house (or they havent tried it and dont know what they're missing but i'm not about to change that)

Sexnotgender · 04/12/2018 14:05

That sounds amazing!

I used to work for a big restaurant and our cheesecake all came in frozen.

KC225 · 04/12/2018 14:05

Babaraofseville Yes, you are right. My comment was made before photographic evidence. It is indeed a big boy.

Ngaio2 · 04/12/2018 14:06

Eat half or a third and freeze the rest for New Year

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 04/12/2018 14:07

I'd be worried about getting a bit sick of it. Think I'd just buy a few slices or a half and then spend the other £20 on other treats (greedy)

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 04/12/2018 14:08

I love cheesecake. Ahhhhh cheese cake and ice cream .... okay. I’m drooling now. If u can afford it. But the damn thing. And don’t share it with anyone. Except me. As I would help u.
