...to ask you to share your "eggs"

DS is currently going through an obsession with eggs! Real ones, chocolate ones, hatching ones, plastic ones with 'surprises' inside. I've just been organising my Christmas shopping in anticipation of starting to ship gifts out of the house, and realised just how many of his gifts are either eggs or egg related (about 50%!)

It got me thinking, what are the most random gifts your DC have asked for/received?

A friend's DC asked for cheese a couple of years ago. That kid just loves his cheese. Can't fault him if I'm honest.

ByeGermsByeWorries · 04/12/2018 07:45

A rock, and for the downstairs fireplace to be relocated to his bedroom Confused

Camomila · 04/12/2018 07:52

You can get plastic toy eggs where you open them and then theres a 'fried' felt or plastic egg inside. Can't remember the brand tho but I've found various ones on google.

DS is boring in comparison and just asks for toys. Atm he wants a till for his shop 'a pretend one'

EvaHarknessRose · 04/12/2018 07:57

Flowers for all the lovely Mums (and maybe Dads) on this thread, this is beautiful.

PeapodBurgundy · 04/12/2018 08:29

@Camomila he actually has an egg and spoon race set that's like that in the storage unit in the garden he's not played with yet. Must get it out for him!

@ByeGermsByeWorries was it perhaps to try and see Santa coming or was it not a Christmas request?

Keys here!

TheHobbitMum · 04/12/2018 08:35

Stretchy poo (slime related) and label maker 😂

JudasPrudy · 04/12/2018 08:35

Have you got the Tomy eggs? The little shape sorter ones in an egg carton?

Santasushi · 04/12/2018 08:36

Over the years ds has requested various oddities including a potato, a block of cheese and a pig.

JaretsGirlfren · 04/12/2018 08:37

DD7 has asked for an Alice Cooper T-shirt. She loves him and Elton John. It’s proving quite hard to find an Alice Cooper T-shirt that will fit, so I think I’m going to have one printed.

ByeGermsByeWorries · 04/12/2018 08:39

@PeapodBurgundy our boiler broke on Sunday but our downstairs fireplace is gas lol. He now wants one in his room in case the boiler breaks again after it's fixed Grin

ByeGermsByeWorries · 04/12/2018 08:40

But it's definitely that and a rock on his Christmas list 😂

PeapodBurgundy · 04/12/2018 08:41

@JudasPrudy Santa is bringing them along with various chocolate ones, hatching ones, bouncing ones, ones to decorate which I've had stashed since the Easter crafts went on sale, ones filled with slime and a 14" ridiculously overpriced plastic one which will be filled with the smaller of his gifts, and an egg cup set for him to have dippy eggs. He's basically got eggs and a home made post office! haha

OP posts:
JudasPrudy · 04/12/2018 08:43

I think you've maybe got all the eggs then! Would a real boiled egg in the bottom of his stocking make him laugh or is he a bit too young?

PeapodBurgundy · 04/12/2018 08:57

He wouldn't find it funny , but he'd love it. Making sure to have eggs in for Christmas breakfast to go with his new egg cup Smile

DD (aged 4) has asked Father Christmas for chocolate coins. To make sure he got the point, she filled an entire page of "letter to Father Christmas" with brown circles.

FourRustedHorses · 04/12/2018 09:10

Fruit. specified Items of fruit. I bought them all and put google eyes on them.

EnglishRose13 · 04/12/2018 09:10

Mine keeps asking for a duck. He's only 2 so I wasn't sure what he meant.

I asked at his nursery if there was a duck toy but they said no.

Finally cracked it. He wants a rubber duck. A tiny one, apparently.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 04/12/2018 09:19

Oldest son wanted a salad spinner. Bought second hand from a charity shop it was one of his favourite presents.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/12/2018 09:25

Fortunately they accept Santa doesn't deal in live animals, so the baby unicorn is off the list. as is the robot unicorn because Santa can't deliver electronics as they mess with his magic

All parents need to know these two important facts!

And apparently some of you also need to know that you need to get in early to subvert the power of tv ads - lots of eye rolling and/or derisive laughter, and comments about people only needing to advertise things that weren't very good - and at some point, seriously, deliver a short lecture on the pitfalls of loans. Those ads can be a learning opportunity!

My DDs most outré request (denied by DH, I might have gone with it as she'd done the research on what was involved) was some Madagascan hissing cockroaches.

On eggs... DDs was given a toy which was a fabric 'dinosaur egg' which unvelcroed and turned the other way out became a baby dinosaur. And of course you could stuff it back into the egg so an ovaphile (I just made that up but it sounds right) would probably like something like that.

Jengnr · 04/12/2018 09:48

My boy wanted birdseed one year.

burblish · 04/12/2018 17:57

Three year old DC asked for a squeaky pink elephant. So, basically, a dog toy!

3littlebadgers · 04/12/2018 18:09

Op we got my egg obsessed 2yo an elf on the shelf egg thinking he'd love it.

You put it in water et voila three days later an elf!

However, elf is not so much elf as demonic sprite and is currently submerged in a bowl of water slowly and menacingly breaking free of the egg which once entrapped it and kept humanity safe.

PeapodBurgundy · 05/12/2018 14:21

@3littlebadgers I just had a good chuckle at that. Hopefully our hatching unicorn will be less possessed! Shock

MulticolourMophead · 05/12/2018 14:29

@Malaco My DCs had that toy about 10-15 years ago, didn't know they were still made!
