...to ask you to share your "eggs"

DS is currently going through an obsession with eggs! Real ones, chocolate ones, hatching ones, plastic ones with 'surprises' inside. I've just been organising my Christmas shopping in anticipation of starting to ship gifts out of the house, and realised just how many of his gifts are either eggs or egg related (about 50%!)

It got me thinking, what are the most random gifts your DC have asked for/received?

FoxInABox I ended up having to buy two loo brushes in Wilko once, as my toddler was distraught at the thought of not taking them home. They lived in the toy box for a good 18 months and were well loved. He never bothered with ones he saw in bathrooms, just those two 60p ones from the shop. Odd beastie he was/is!

sobeyondthehills · 04/12/2018 00:24

So far

double glazing windows
PPI refund
Chairlift
Over 50s plan

There is a ton more as well, for the record we have double glazing and I am no where near 50 nor do we have stairs. Bloody adverts

I have found with DS that unless it involves lego he has no interest in toy adverts, but any other shit he is there watching

fleshmarketclose · 04/12/2018 00:24

Wander dd who is 25 has a baby Jesus that she has treasured for over twenty years. It moved with her when she left home and although it is no longer in her bed she still treasures it.

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/12/2018 00:26

Talking of bouncing eggs....my dad had a couple of these put them in the egg basket to trick the kids when he threw one. You can probably guess the rest.....:o

GetOffTheTableMabel · 04/12/2018 00:26

A cuddly dragonfly!
It took some doing but I did find one eventually.

incallthebloodytime · 04/12/2018 00:55

A giraffe has been requested this year

And those bloody adverts! I once rushed as I was called urgently "quick, quick, quick, you'll miss it.. quick... loook...."

"It's the most magical place on earth 🌏"

I have another toddler who had a weird obsession with bell peppers! She would go to the fridge and insist I got it out for her. She'd carry it around and have it next to her when she played then it would go to 'bed' back in the fridge. Thankfully she's not quite at the stage of asking but I will be looking for some plastic vegetable toys for her.

LaBelleSausage · 04/12/2018 01:11

Nothing can compare to my sisters ex who was an absolute...yorkshireman when it came to money.

On one of their earlier dates he asked if she was ok to split the bill, then produced a 2for1 voucher and said that was his half covered.

Why she didn’t turn and run at that point I’ll never know!

LaBelleSausage · 04/12/2018 01:12

Oops! Wrong thread Blush

CheshireChat · 04/12/2018 01:14

I thought this would be a thread about IVF and was rather Confused.

My kid loves pegs and coat hangers and would be ecstatic to get some Christmas I bet.

Aridane · 04/12/2018 01:15

poster sobeyondthehills - that did make me laugh!

KC225 · 04/12/2018 03:39

I was one of those 'no fizzy drinks' mums. Took 4 year old twins to see Santa. DS asked for a Power Rangers DVD - all good. DD asks Santa for a 'giant bottle of coke that I can drink all to myself'. Did I feel like one scummy mummy.

CaitlinsYellowSocks · 04/12/2018 03:55

DS (3) has asked for "chocolate and a coconut leaf" this year - he asked for chocolate and a leaf last year, but was less specific about the type.

I have no idea where I'm going to get a coconut leaf from.

Mammyofasuperbaby · 04/12/2018 05:06

@CaitlinsYellowSocks, try Asian or world food supermarkets. They often sell coconut leaves for cooking meat in so I imagine that's your best bet for real or Amazon for fake ones

lalalalyra · 04/12/2018 05:27

My 4 year old wants a ruler for Christmas. That's it. Nothing else. Just a "nice" ruler. Trying to work out what constitutes a nice ruler may make or break her Christmas and she's just sticking to "nice".

Eldest once asked for a box of paperclips for his birthday when he was in a phase of making paperclip necklaces constantly.

PeapodBurgundy · 04/12/2018 06:29

@Malaco sort of. It's one of the gifts he will be receiving this year Grin

Rinsing myself as the personal loan. At least they didn't ask for a business loan, that would have been foolish!

The corn snake reminded me, my DB for his first birthday asked for a real hen. He coped well with not getting it! Corn snakes are actually lovely creatures, but I cold never get one as I'd be too sad to feed it baby mice :-(

DS (6) has just written a Christmas list at school which has been put up on the notice board outside his schoolroom. In it he has asked for a fake poo and a sofa. On investigation it turns out he doesn't like sharing the sofa with anyone else so wants his own!

FrostyMoanyWind · 04/12/2018 06:57

I once threatened DS with sticks and stones in his stocking. DD got all excited because "DS love sticks" and wanted to go and choose some for him!
Fortunately they accept Santa doesn't deal in live animals, so the baby unicorn is off the list. as is the robot unicorn because Santa can't deliver electronics as they mess with his magic Wink

WatchingTheWheels85 · 04/12/2018 07:00

My youngest (now 6) has a lip balm obsession. All he wanted last year was a case of lip balms it was his favourite present.

waterlego6064 · 04/12/2018 07:09

DD wanted nothing but ‘ribbons and peacock feathers’ one year.

SilentAndQuietLight · 04/12/2018 07:09

My 6yo asked for bread on her last birthday. She later confided that she didn't actually want it, she just thought it would be useful...

Sirzy · 04/12/2018 07:12

During his lift obsession ds wanted a real lift (preferably a Schindler lift) in the house. Sadly that one really wasn’t doable!

ShoeJunkie · 04/12/2018 07:13

I’ve bought DS1 a padlock as a stocking present. He had a tiny padlock from a Christmas cracker which he treasured but it got lost at the childminder’s house. Can’t wait to see his face when he opens it!

ThisIsWhatItSoundsLike · 04/12/2018 07:26

Sellotape rolls and rolls of it my then DS 6 was obsessed with making models and would go through sellotape frequently.
It was frustrating to try and wrap presents when he had used all your supply Grin.
He hasn't changed much think I'm raising an engineer.
