Who is being unreasonable?

Person A is wrapping presents in the lounge with the scissors from the kitchen, B sees them doing them doing this. A doesn’t put the scissors back as hadn’t finished with them yet. Later B goes into the kitchen to get the scissors to cut open packaging on something and couldn’t find them, meaning opened the drawer they were in and they weren’t there so didn’t bother looking anymore, grabs a knife instead. Ends up cutting into palm of hand, deep cut, blood everywhere. A helps clean the cut and gets a plaster, says scissors were in the lounge as used when wrapping presents. B and person C pissed with A as should’ve put them back, fair enough, says sorry. In the night Bs cut is still bleeding heavily, C takes B to hospital, ends up needing stitches, as work is hands on B now has to take a time off work, paid but with deductions meaning B is loosing money. C decides seeing as it was As fault the scissors weren’t where they were suppose to be A now needs to make up the money B is loosing. A says don’t be ridiculous, wasn’t their fault B decided to stupidly use a knife, B could’ve easily asked where the scissors were or just waited as it wasn’t something that urgently needed opening.

B and C now refusing to speak to A until she pays which she says she has no intention of doing.

All three! You should have replaced scissors, they shouldn’t have used a knife and c should butt out

Thiswayorthatway · 03/12/2018 17:00

YANBU (presuming you are Person A). Person B should have been more careful.

Paddington23 · 03/12/2018 17:00

A shouldn’t have to pay anything b used the knife and chose too use knowing that a had the scissors last and could of asked for them

Fatasfook · 03/12/2018 17:00

B is the biggest idiot though

cowfacemonkey · 03/12/2018 17:02

B is an idiot and C is a shit stirrer. A should tell them both to do one

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 03/12/2018 17:03

If person B can't use a knife without injuring themselves, they shouldn't go anywhere near knives.

PatriciaHolm · 03/12/2018 17:04

B and C are being completely unreasonable.

notaborc · 03/12/2018 17:04

No, none are me. They’re my roommates and they’ve all be bitching to me about it. Confused I told A she shouldn’t give B any money but she should’ve put the scissors back but she has a point she wasn’t done with them yet, had only stopped using as was having dinner and was going to use them again after she’s eaten. Told B not to be ridiculous, he knows it’s a stupid idea and doesn’t need to go along with it just because C said so.

If the scissors are usually missing it’s becuase B has used and not put them back so I’ve said to him it’s him karma (joking obviously) Grin

B chose to use the knife and as an adult ( I assume) should have known the possible consequences of that action. It would have taken B seconds to go and see if the scissors were still where they last saw them. Yes, A is a nuisance for not putting the scissors back where they belong but they cannot be blamed for B's accident which they couldn't have forseen.

Erinaz · 03/12/2018 17:06

C sounds like a complete A hole .B should stop whingeing an take responsibility for using the knife . A has not done anything wrong .

Blanchedupetitpois · 03/12/2018 17:11

B was the twat who decided to use a knife instead of spending 5 minutes looking for the scissors. B can’t demand that other people pay for their stupidity. C is nosy and shouldn’t be getting involved. A seems pretty blameless in this scenario.

LittleScottieDog · 03/12/2018 17:11

B should have gone to get the scissors. A shouldn't give B any money; it was B's decision to use a knife when the scissors were, presumably, no more than ten or fifteen feet away.

CantWaitToRetire · 03/12/2018 17:14

B knew A was the last person using the scissors so should have asked where they were instead of grabbing a knife to open their item. A is not responsible for B's bad choices, and was not unreasonable to have not put them back if they were going to use them again straight after dinner.

It was an unfortunate accident and C should butt out of it and stop shit stirring.

brizzledrizzle · 03/12/2018 17:14

It was bloody stupid to use the knife to cut something. C should mind their own business and A&B should chalk it up to experience and move on. B shouldn't take up knife throwing as a hobby.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 03/12/2018 17:15

More importantly, will you lose your deposit when you leave your rental because of the bloodstains on the carpet?

WaterBird · 03/12/2018 17:20

B and C are both being unreasonable here. B was lazy, did not look for the scissors, and his cut was his own fault.
C shouldn't be asking that of A, and B should get a backbone and tell C that they're being unreasonable to demand this.

Aquamarine1029 · 03/12/2018 17:31

B is a clumsy idiot. C is a shit-stirring bellend. The fact you didn't put the scissors back is irrelevant. A could have asked for them, and being so careless with the knife is their own stupid fault.

costacoffeecup · 03/12/2018 17:32

What @Aquamarine1029 said. 100%. When did people get so bloody entitled they can't take responsibility for any of their own (stupid) decisions?

Aquamarine1029 · 03/12/2018 17:33

Sorry... B could have asked for the scissors....

veggiepigsinpastryblankets · 03/12/2018 17:43

A needs new, non-mad flatmates.

B needs to get a grip but not of the sharp end of the knife.

Is C trying to get into B's pants? Or just a shit stirrer?

ApolloandDaphne · 03/12/2018 17:51

B needs to take more responsibility for their actions!

Underpressureidiot · 03/12/2018 18:22

B is so stupid, sounds like they hardly even looked for the scissors, they didn’t have to open it straight away and you can’t blame someone else for an injury you caused by using a knife! Ridiculous. Don’t listen to them anymore, a ridiculous non argument

Oobis · 03/12/2018 18:26

B had an accident. If B had used the correct tool, it probably wouldn't have happened, however B made the decision to do so. A and C are kind of irrelevant.

explodingkittensexpansion · 03/12/2018 18:29

B is bonkers, it is their own fault they used a knife incorrectly.

Storm4star · 03/12/2018 18:34

OP and A should find new house mates! It’s absolutely none of C’s business and B not being able to use a knife safely is not A’s responsibility! I would guess B&C are a couple? Find somewhere else to live if this is what they’re like!
