Just that really. Whilst changing the bedding over today I've found a gift bag containing a full lingerie set. Well I presume it's for me lol! My friend said that she wouldn't like that kind of gift and I told her she was a prude, all jokey btw. I just wondered how it sits with everyone on here? X

Wouldn’t bother me

What’s wrong with dressing up for your husbands pleasure once in a while Confused

Redgreencoverplant · 03/12/2018 12:42

DH did this once and I explained that it wasn't a present for me it was a present for him. He has since bought me underwear but it is wonderful, comfy (and expensive) merino wool stuff which fits perfect and is the comfiest underwear I have ever worn.

Bluerussian · 03/12/2018 12:45

I'd love it! I bet you buy him underwear for the tree or stocking filler sometimes, I buy for mine.

I would love my husband to be so imaginative.

I’m guessing, the bit where it’s meant to be a present for the wife when actually it’s a present for the husband?

If you like fancy lingerie knock yourself out, who cares. If you don’t then it’s not brilliant as a Christmas present.

skybluee · 03/12/2018 12:59

It depends what it is. If it was a C string or crotchless underwear I'd hate it. Or those tassles. If it's something that is actually nice, then no, I'd be happy.

Seaweed42 · 03/12/2018 13:01

Is this the Daily Mail again?

53rdWay · 03/12/2018 13:04

If it is the DM I’d like to amend my earlier answer: totally fine with lingerie for Christmas so long as it’s got a picture of Lord Justice Leveson’s face on the front.

menz are the enemy on MN, don't you know? Anything that can be remotely positive for them is a clear oppression of the poor victims that we are.

In the real world, many married couples enjoy having sex together thankfully!

maras2 · 03/12/2018 13:31

Nearly 50 years ago DH(then boyfriend) bought me the most awfull bra, pants and suspenders set(we didn't know about lingerie round our way).
It was red frilly nylon, very scratchy and at least 2 sizes too small Angry.
The most seasoned of 'good time girl' wouldn't have been seen dead in them.
He managed to exchange them for a credit note with which I bought several pairs of tights and a body stocking Blush.
He was warned that if he ever did that again that would be it.
Oddly enough we're still together.
He doesn't buy my underwear and I don't buy his. Smile

kmc1111 · 03/12/2018 13:36

Love it, love lingerie.

53rdWay · 03/12/2018 13:36

Yep, if you don’t personally enjoy being stuffed into an £80 mock-satin embroidered basque, it’s because you hate men and hate sex. Only explanation.

manicinsomniac · 03/12/2018 13:39

I wouldn't be offended (unless it was tacky or wildly the wrong size).

I would be a bit sad at the waste of money/present though. Nobody ever sees my underwear so I don't see the point in expensive stuff.

If I was going to receive expensive clothing (unlikely!) I'd rather it was something worn visibly (shallow? moi? Grin ).

toolazytothinkofausername · 03/12/2018 13:45

That's not a present for you, that's a present for him!!!
I'd be okay with a hot beach holiday + lingerie :)

hazeyjane · 03/12/2018 13:46

I'd be over the moon if he bought me some big comfy pants and a nice vest

theonlyKevin · 03/12/2018 14:19

you do realise that "lingerie" does not necessarily means mock-satin garments, don't you? Technically even M&S granny pants are lingerie are they a decent present is another issue

53rdWay · 03/12/2018 14:21

Steady on now, next you’ll be telling me it doesn’t all cost precisely £80.

Unicornandbows · 03/12/2018 14:24

I'm looking forward to my set for Christmas he really picks well

puzzledlady · 03/12/2018 14:29

Silk stuff - fine. Ann Summers stuff that’s cheesy and clearly for his benefit - no.

No of course I wouldn't be offended! I'd have no reason to be.

glamglamgirl · 03/12/2018 14:36

This is a set from Anne Summers. It's classy not tacky.

I wouldn’t like it.

I’m not into pretty lingerie. I wear great big cotton belly warmers from Primark.
