Just that really. Whilst changing the bedding over today I've found a gift bag containing a full lingerie set. Well I presume it's for me lol! My friend said that she wouldn't like that kind of gift and I told her she was a prude, all jokey btw. I just wondered how it sits with everyone on here? X

I used to get really annoyed with my husband buying me "lingerie". It wasn't gorgeous lacy stuff bought in the right size - it was cheap tart crotchless panties or some such. Always one size fits no-one and bought for his cheap thrills without any thought to what I might like.

I like underwear and as a lady with large knockers buying matching sets is really expensive so had he bought sexy but glamorous fitting underwear I'd have been grateful.

Bigonesmallone3 · 03/12/2018 11:49

I'd be flattered he's put thought into what he would like to see me in..

Depending on what exactly it was tho..

Snowwontbelong · 03/12/2018 11:50

Since he likes dressing up I suggest you get him a Santa outfit!!
Job done!

theonlyKevin · 03/12/2018 11:52

I understand that some people might not like it, but being offended? Good grief, it's a disease nowadays, you can offended by anything. When it's your own husband, it's more than sad to react that way.

Sillysausageshi · 03/12/2018 11:52

I'd be in hysterics if my DP bought me lingerie. Just the thought of him buying it for me makes me laugh as he'd be so embarrassed, even online!

RiverTam · 03/12/2018 11:53

if it's nice underwear no problem. If it's crotchless knickers and a peephole bra made of polyester, no thanks.

bobstersmum · 03/12/2018 11:53

It's a bit early isn't it?

NotUmbongoUnchained · 03/12/2018 11:55

I love when he buys me lingerie, I really can’t inaginr why anyone would be offended.

Anyat212 · 03/12/2018 11:55

I’d be pretty happy. DP bought me some nice lingerie a few years ago - although when I opened it I didn’t really know what to say as it was more tailored to the busty women shall we say... considering i barely even had pancakes at the time, I asked him to change it & he came back with some really pretty AND flattering!

Thinking of it he’s never done bought lingerie since haha, it’s left to me!

glamglamgirl · 03/12/2018 11:57

Thanks im glad we're pretty much all in agreement. I guess some people just love to over react or make a mountain out of a molehill x

I get some every year, underwear, M&S usually the wrong size and shape (cue conversation about looking at labels and him needing new reading glasses (d isn't the same size as dd) or I hate padded bras ... on the 27th I'm in the very long returns queue. It's because he's lazy, he does all the shopping in three shops which are in a row M&S, WH Smith and Boots.

PinkHeart5914 · 03/12/2018 11:58

No becuase my dh has some taste and would buy some very nice quality stuff 😃 I guess it is kind of a present for him but I’d enjoy a night or wearing it with him Wink

GrumpyOldMare · 03/12/2018 11:59

Not offended,no. But I would hate it. I like to buy my own underwear, comfy, cotton stuff. None of the fancy, lacy stuff for me. Comfort over looks at my age!

SleepingStandingUp · 03/12/2018 12:00

Because not everyone likes to dress up? Especially if it's in something that does nothing for them but gets their partners engine over revved. Jnwear you both enjoy is totally different to him exoexting you to dress up purely for his pleasure and act grateful for doing so

Personally I'm with Silly sausage tho lol

53rdWay · 03/12/2018 12:01

Well your friend just said that she wouldn’t like that sort of gift, not that you’re wrong and weird for liking it. Not sure what the overreaction is there?

OutPinked · 03/12/2018 12:03

Agreed with pp’s saying it depends whether it’s for your benefit or his.

DP usually gets me some underwear but it’s nice pairs I can and do wear day to day, not just ‘sexy’ but impractical things he wants to see me in.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 03/12/2018 12:05

Depends if it’s wearable or bedroom stuff only.

Bedroom stuff only I’d be upset. I am fat so it looks like shit, it’s uncomfortable and never fits. Plus I’ve never been a ‘dress up in the bedroom’ type. So clearly a present for him not me.

It would be like me buying him a vibrator. Yes we can use it together but it’s definitely more for me!

A novelty pack of knickers would be fine.

Wingingthis · 03/12/2018 12:07

No I’d think it was hot !

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 03/12/2018 12:08

Wow nice to be you I suppose OP, where anyone that doesn’t agree with you is a prude or making a mountain out of a molehill.

DistanceCall · 03/12/2018 12:08

Erm, no. It's something that he wants you to enjoy together.

starandson · 03/12/2018 12:09

I don’t know if I’d be offended but I like to choose my own underwear. Maybe I would be annoyed if he bought me something purely for his own benefit.

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 03/12/2018 12:10

I'd not be offended but I would be a bit Hmm because it's impractical and likely to irritate my sensory processing and as an overweight woman feel ridiculous due to my own body hang ups, but I'd try anything once and see how it goes.

Crookedcolours · 03/12/2018 12:15

I wouldn't like it

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 03/12/2018 12:26

If it looked like it would give me thrush - offended
If I'd ever clearly stated 'I don't do dressing up in fancy little knickers' - offended
If it was a size 6 (I'm not) - pissed off by lack of thought
If it was my only present - pissed off. I mean, it's really a present for him, isn't it? (In the same way season tickets for DH and DS to our local football club is a present for me cos I get the house to myself)

Any other circs - totally fine.

Naicemum · 03/12/2018 12:37

Love it, but DH will spend more than I would on myself and he has great taste, although we do agree it's a present for both of us really.
