This year my heart was broken by Toys "R" Us closing, just wondered what other shops that have closed do you miss?
This year we've had maplins, BHS I believe was this year, Mothercare will all be gone by next year summer too.
As a teen I used to love Bay Trading, and a shop called Tammy Girl.

I remember Richards shops - miss them. Principles also.

ButchyRestingFace · 02/12/2018 13:29

The Pier - just when I got rich enough to shop in it, it shut. 🙄

C&A, Tammy Girl, BHS, let me count the ways...

TacoFlavouredKisses · 02/12/2018 13:29

The Pier Sad

itbemay · 02/12/2018 13:29

Woolworths
Our price
Bay trading too!!

Aprilsinparis · 02/12/2018 13:30

I miss those little hardware shops, they had a lovely paraffin and firelighter smell. They were usually run by a very knowledgeable person, who knew exactly what you needed for the job you were doing.
I think the shop, unfortunately, that will no longer be around in five years or less, will be Thorntons, the shops seen to be getting smaller, and have less choice, although they will survive online.

TacoFlavouredKisses · 02/12/2018 13:30

Crosspost Butchy Grin

I finally got a papasan in their (amazing) closing down sale after years of lusting after one.

ButchyRestingFace · 02/12/2018 13:30

@TacoFlavouredKisses Pipped you by 3 seconds! Grin

MistyMeena · 02/12/2018 13:30

How does Clinton Cards survive? We have a huge one here with never a soul in it!

We also have Debenhams and Ryman's, can't see those surviving much longer.

ButchyRestingFace · 02/12/2018 13:32

I got a bookcase and a single curtain in their closing down sale. Still got some of their candles though.

I'm well jel of the papasan chair. Envy

Amanduh · 02/12/2018 13:32

Woolies, Blockbuster, toys r us.
Debenhams will go. House of Fraser will go. New Look will go. Mothercare will go. It’s sad

ButchyRestingFace · 02/12/2018 13:33

I feel a song coming on

🎵 Internet killed the high street store 🎵

IreneWinters · 02/12/2018 13:33

I was also just coming on to say Pier. I loved that shop and couldn’t wait until I had enough money to spend in there and a house to put the things in. Then the bastards closed. Gutted.

Mari50 · 02/12/2018 13:34

I really liked kookai.

easyandy101 · 02/12/2018 13:34

Allders Croydon - it's a crime there now with that outlet village

There is still to this day a massive woolies size hole on every high street

"Funny" to see that it's the supermarket end of high street stores that are struggling. A few years ago every indie camera shop in the country hated jessops, now if you want to buy a camera you pretty much have to go to an indie, and it's lucky there's some left

ButchyRestingFace · 02/12/2018 13:35

Woooohooh! Haud the bus.

New Look will go, really?

Not that I shop there but I like to keep abreast of what's what. Has Primark/TK Maxx swallowed up that market?

The80sweregreat · 02/12/2018 13:35

Bhs. Woolworths.

ButchyRestingFace · 02/12/2018 13:35

I really liked kookai.

That's gone too? Shock

Soz, I live in a cave.

Mathbat · 02/12/2018 13:36

Kew. Gorgeous clothes in proper fabrics rather than manmade tat. Still got some in my wardrobe.

MadisonAvenue · 02/12/2018 13:36

Woolworths and The Pier.
I wish Sephora hadn’t closed their UK shops too.

Findingdotty · 02/12/2018 13:36

Woolworths and The Pier.

ButchyRestingFace · 02/12/2018 13:37

Can't for the life of me imagine how Benetton is still trading.

Findingdotty · 02/12/2018 13:37

Oooo snap MadisonAvenue

ChodeofChodeHall · 02/12/2018 13:38

I miss how the Body Shop used to be in the 1980s: a magical place filled with wondrous delights. I used to make a weekly pilgrimage every Saturday to sniff the bottles and buy bath pearls. It's now a slick/dull shadow of its former self.

Octopus37 · 02/12/2018 13:38

Woolworths
MKOne
Bay Trading

Will be truly gutted if New Look goes

TheFatberg · 02/12/2018 13:39

The Sweater Shop. Used to love their jumpers as a child. Could only ever afford one in the sale or with birthday money.
