Posting for traffic. Just woke up. Waters trickling ... I’m 36 weeks. I have nothing ready. I mean nothing. What do I need to get/pack that’s urgent? Hospital called don’t worry... I am going in.

Notes, take your notes Smile

EnglishRose13 · 02/12/2018 06:05

A nightgown or large t shirt. Some snacks and a drink. Comfy pants, and some pads.

Have you washed some clothes for your baby yet? If not, put their coming home outfit on a quick wash and get someone to bring it to you when it's dry.

Poppins2016 · 02/12/2018 06:07

Something to wear during labour
Going home outfit for you
Nightwear
Underwear

Outfit for baby x 3 if possible

Maternity pads
Toiletries
Nappies

Phone charger
Phone
Camera (if not using phone)

Snacks for during/after labour

Mumtoboy123 · 02/12/2018 06:08

Baby vests and sleepsuits x3. Birth 'outfit' eg nightie. Nightie or pjs for after. Maternity pads. Breast pads. Formula of using from birth or even back up. Bottles. Deoderant. Shower jel. Blankets for baby. Babygrows usually have built in scratchmits nowadays but if not then those too. Car seat. Baby hat. Energy drinks. Towel. Knickers. Bra. Outfit to leave in. Slippers. Any music you wanted.
Thats all i can think of for now. Best of luck. You'll be fine!

WeSaluteYou · 02/12/2018 06:08

I packed in an emergency this week - tens machine perhaps? Glasses/contact lenses if you wear them and a phone charger in addition to the above

Everything else can be got at the hospital shop! Good luck

IggyAce · 02/12/2018 06:17

Good luck similar happened to me with DC1, I was on the phone to maternity while putting my stuff in a case.
Essentials: nightwear, pants, maternity pads, cotton wool, nappies, baby wipes, toiletries, lip balm (my lips always dry out in hospital). Good luck

Mercier1 · 02/12/2018 06:19

Fuck I feel overwhelmed I don’t even have pads just found some Tena ladies. No baby clothes ready... thanks for these lists

bluechameleon · 02/12/2018 06:26

Don't worry, they will give you pads if you need them. I've had 2 children in 2 different hospitals and both provided the first 2 or 3 pads then you used your own.

Emma765 · 02/12/2018 06:27

Get someone to pick up what you need and bring it to you. X

Namelessinseattle · 02/12/2018 06:28

My ds didn’t have babygro for the first 12 hours and was fine. Bring in something even if it’s jot washed and then get someone to wash while you’re gone.

If you’ve no pads bring a few pants and few pj bottoms for the journey in and a towel - I made that mistake and sloshed around in converse and bottoms till my spares arrived. Also bring flip flops. Phone charger, toothbrush and toothpaste.

IndianaMoleWoman · 02/12/2018 06:29

My waters went fully in a big dramatic splash at 34 weeks, labour didn’t start and I was induced four days later. Try not to panic about being unprepared etc. - you may still have days to go! Anything you forget will be available at the hospital anyway.

Good luck, hope all goes well and you’re soon meeting your lovely new baby Flowers

Cupoftchaiagain · 02/12/2018 06:34

Don't stress my bag went missing when I moved rooms during labour and didn't turn up till 6 or so hours after the birth... hospital found me all we needed pads nappies clothes for baby some food even though it was 3 am when I got up to the ward!
Things u probably have in:
Phone
Charger
Toothbrush
Shampoo
Some changes of comfortable clothes
Pants
Comfortable bra
Notes

Then send someone to the supermarket if you sure things underway. Good luck!

fizzytonicplease · 02/12/2018 08:18

Some big comfy knickers,
straws so when you need water you haven't got to try and drink from the glass, made it so much easier to have sips of water.
Phone/camera and chargers
Flannels
Pjs for after
Night dress for during labour
Nappies
Water wipes/cotton wool

PurpleFlower1983 · 02/12/2018 08:27

Good luck!

Monr0e · 02/12/2018 08:34

Are you actually contracting? Have you been asked to go to the delivery suite or does your hospital have a maternity triage?

If waters are trickling rather than an obvious gush and you're not in labour the midwife may perform a test to confirm it is definitely your waters rather than just assume it is.

You may still come back home and be asked to come back in for induction.

Definitely take your notes, clothes and toiletries for you and nappies, vests, a hat and baby gros

Good luck

Queenie8 · 02/12/2018 08:39

Good luck 🤞
My baby didn't arrive un 32 hours after my waters went with a trickle like yours.

Don't forget toiletries and a TOWEL.
Nightwear
Undies
Change of clothes
Phone charger
Money and change
SanPro
Hairbrush
Slippers/flipflops

For baby:
Babygrows
Nappies
Hat
Milk /bottles
CARSEAT (Although this can be brought up later to the hospital)
Wipes
Baby bath wash

Didntwanttochangemyname · 02/12/2018 09:14

If it's just a trickle, could it just be your hindwater going? If so, you could still have a bit of time. Mine went and I didn't go in to labour for a few days - you might still have time to get organised!
Good luck with it all!

CharltonLido73 · 02/12/2018 09:36

Mine went at 36 weeks (second baby) and baby came four hours later. Just take what is essential for you and get someone else to get the essentials for the baby.
My first baby came in a similar manner at 37 weeks and we had literally nothing for the baby. My husband had to do a mad dash to the shops and buy everything from nappies to a car seat that morning.
Best wishes!

hammeringinmyhead · 02/12/2018 09:41

Mine went at 38 weeks with no contractions so I was sent home from the midwife led unit for 24 hours. You may have time yet! Good luck!

seventhgonickname · 02/12/2018 09:45

Pack what you can and make a list of things you need to give to someone else to sort.
Good luck.

user1471426142 · 02/12/2018 09:53

Good luck- I was going to say be prepared to be in for a while. If nothing else is happening they might want to monitor you for a while before inducing. Mine went at 38 weeks so they wanted the baby to be born within 48 hours. At 36 weeks, I think they have to balance risk of infection with the baby being less well developed.

SlackerMum1 · 02/12/2018 09:56

I was going to recommend Tena ladies! So much better than maternity pads.... my waters broke and DD didn’t show up till 48h later. Didn’t realise waters keep coming Envy

beachyhead · 02/12/2018 18:29

@Mercier1 How's it going? Any new arrival? Bear

NoThankyouHun · 02/12/2018 20:00

You need maternity pads. Thousands of them. Nighties for you slippers and toiletries and 1 outfit for baby is fine. The rest people can bring you.
