Posting for traffic. Just woke up. Waters trickling ... I’m 36 weeks. I have nothing ready. I mean nothing. What do I need to get/pack that’s urgent? Hospital called don’t worry... I am going in.

Proper maternity pads too not tena or sanitary towels etc. Also good luck!

NatureGal · 02/12/2018 20:21

This was me four years ago Op, nothing ready and waters went pop. Hope you managed to grab some Basics together and everything is ok.

Mercier1 · 02/12/2018 20:46

Hey people. It was confirmed waters. I was 100% sure though so annoyed I was given an exam I don’t feel I needed. Anyway they wanted to keep me in for 25 hour monitoring but I live 1 minute from hospital to opted to go home (had to sign) I ended up drenched in fluids walking around mothercare buying tiny baby grow Hmm anyways not a hint of a contraction... if I don’t go myself I’ll prob have induction Wednesday so if anyone has any tips hit me ! (I’ll be 37 weeks on Wednesday)

Hey hun I'll be 38 weeks on Wednesday and I've not packed properly yet... this post has just given me a kick up the arse to get things sorted!
I'm so exited for you hun 😘

If nothing has happend and you can or ask someone to get you some clary sage and massage oil from health food shop.

Massge it in, bath in it, put it in a oil burner. I swear it's what started my contractions

Mercier1 · 03/12/2018 10:18

@bringbackbertha im trying that, acupuncture at 4pm and an induction massage in the morning.

Don't panic - you don't need half of what they say I promise.

I went into hospital without a bag packed (long story).

You need some maternity pads and big pants. A bottled drink is really really helpful. Bring some nappies for the baby, but they can be wrapped in a blanket if necessary.

People can and will bring you what you need later.

(Sounds like you have a bit more time to prepare though :)) - Good luck! Exciting.

LouiseEH · 03/12/2018 10:42

Double up on maternity pads! I ended up running out and leaked through all of my spare clothes and had go home in blood soaked pyjama shorts

elliejjtiny · 03/12/2018 10:48

This happened to me OP. Online shopping is your friend. Next deliver next day and either supermarket delivery or amazon prime for nappies etc. Best of luck.

Cutesbabasmummy · 03/12/2018 10:55

Toothbrush and toothpaste and mouthwash - I was sick 6 times in my 17 hour labour!

FishFingersAndCustard11 · 03/12/2018 11:04

Plenty of disposable knickers/old knickers. Maternity towels, breast pads, toothbrush and paste. Clothes for when you're in labour, this isn't important though because hospitals usually provide gowns upon request. Shampoo, shower gel, hospital can provide towels also. Comfy clothes for you in hospital, going home outfit. Money for vending machines, parking etc. Slippers for walking around the hospital.

For the baby, I would recommend more than 3 outfits personally. Travel pack of nappies, packet of wet wipes. Baby blanket, hats, mittens, booties/socks, going home outfit. I would bring a coat/snowsuit for the baby because of this awful weather. Car seat if travelling by car home

Oysterbabe · 03/12/2018 11:09

Don't worry too much, you live 1 minute from the hospital so your partner can bring more stuff.
Make sure you take plenty of food though. My DD was born at 35+5 after PPROM. She was in NICU for a few days and I kept missing meals because I was beside her and not at my bed. I remember one night having a packet of haribo for dinner.

ribblerobble · 03/12/2018 11:24

I went in with nothing at 35 weeks when waters broke at midnight and came out a week later with a baby. Also lived near so partner could just pop to 24 Tesco for required things. Nice shampoo/shower gel is something you'll want. If you are planning to BF then I found the hospital provided everything for formula when I had initial problems but if planning to FF you had to have it all with you.

Hope you make it to Weds OK (doctors seem a bit obsessed with the numbers).

Mercier1 · 03/12/2018 14:01

Hey decided to opt for induction tomorrow ... any advice? I realise I’m
Prob not going to labour myself...

hammeringinmyhead · 03/12/2018 15:45

I managed to avoid the drip by having the pessary and then doing lots of walking round the hospital. My advice is that if you get sent to the ward to wait and you start contracting, be insistent. I nearly didn't make it to a delivery room because the midwives just assumed they would put in the pessary and not need to check me for 12 hours but I gave birth 7 hours later.

NoThankyouHun · 03/12/2018 19:01

Don't refuse any pain killers is my advice for induction. It'll be fine but it is more painful. Good luck!

Mercier1 · 03/12/2018 21:22

Yes quite nervous about the pain. I am feeling the odd pain here and there tonight so fingers crossed for me x

NoThankyouHun · 03/12/2018 22:30

Good luck!!

Flobalob · 03/12/2018 22:39

Loads of black knickers that can be thrown afterwards. Not those awful paper knickers!
Music to listen to. Drinks and snacks.

Flobalob · 03/12/2018 22:45

A jug to pour water over yourself down below when you do a few post birth wees in the shower (if you have stitches).

Smilingthru · 03/12/2018 22:57

Relax as much as you can and trust your body. Pack comfy clothes for after with comfy knickers and pads. Pack nappies, best and sleep grow for baby. Drink and snacks. The rest your partner can sort after birth.

Good luck! X

Mercier1 · 03/12/2018 23:22
