WIBU to head to walk-in centre for a headache?

I've had a headache for two days. Had a bit of a fever yesterday but it's normal now. My head is killing me. It's hard to even type this now.

I'm in a lot of pain and starting to feel quite nauseous.

WIBU to go to walk in (partially also because ibuprofen and paracetamol aren't working and I'm unsure of what I can take whilst breast feeding)? Or would I be wasting their time?

The main reason I worry is because I NEVER get headaches...

Hi Op, definitely go and get checked out. Hope you feel better soon Smile

@AlwaysQuestionning @KatnissK it's relatively recent that the advice on codeine changed. There's information about why here.

Mine turned out to be a spinal fluid leak following spinal block
Took months to resolve and 3 blood patch attempts

111 said I need to see someone (wall in they've suggested) in next 4 hours. I'm going to take my chances and extend that to 8 and call the walk in at 7am when it opens. That's my choice and I know I'll get flamed for it but hey ho. Thanks all for advice.

@RedLife I don't even know where that came from... it's not even one of those threads. Weird.

If I were to meet the 4 hour criteria it would mean going to a&e which I don't want to do (let's face it I'll spend at least another 4 hours waiting to be seen there on a Saturday night). I would rather call at the walk-in when it opens at 7. DH will take me for 6:40 so I am early and will be first seen first...

How are you op?

Adviceforhouse · 02/12/2018 07:02

Hope your feeling a little better OP. I recently had a viral that started off as fever and a pounding headache, it literally felt like a hammer to the back of my skull constantly, I had to put sunglasses on as even a dark room wasn’t dark enough. I kept going hot and cold, then the back of my neck was pounding and went to my spine, I thought I had a tension headache/migraine until there next day my OH and child complained of pounding headache also. I get delicate for a few days afterwards, didn’t drive for two days and my spine felt like I had been in a car accident. There are some very nasty bugs going round at the mo, best to get checked out to be safe xx

CSIblonde · 02/12/2018 07:04

It does sound like migraine. If it goes on longer than 3days (the longest a friend who has severe ones get them for) then I'd really be concerned. If you have co ordination problems on top of pain, nausea, blurred vision, feel like your skin is crawling or black out, then that's how a relatives brain tumour started.

Adviceforhouse · 02/12/2018 07:06

Just to add as well, if it is a spinal headache caused by a fluid leak from baby’s birth, they say a good way of knowing is to lie flat down, if the headache stops when your lay down it’s a spinal headache. I had one after birth of my youngest and midwife told me to drink water non stop all day and if no better I would need go for a blood patch. Luckily the water worked. X

DeezMutts · 02/12/2018 16:16

Hope you’re ok @BabySham4U

StripyDeckchair · 04/12/2018 13:20

Hope you're feeling much better now @BabySham4U Flowers
