To ask how often you decorate?

We’ve lived in our house for 2.5 years.

From our kitchen window, you can see into next doors front bedroom window.

This is the 3rd time since we’ve lived here that they’ve painted/redecorated the room. It always occurs just before Christmas, so I presume this is some annual event.

We redecorated when we moved in, but other than that, I have no intention to paint again for 5-10years?

Does anyone else decorate yearly??

When it needs doing or I fancy a change in decor really. My house is for sale at the moment though and its all been painted within the last 2 years.

I can understand changing the decor when you fancy something different. It would just never occur to me to do that every year.

Nope, definitely not every year!

trojanpony · 30/11/2018 08:20

Every year is OTT

3-6 depending on useage

When it's gone past shabby and really looks like it needs doing. Our bathroom was done a year ago when we moved in and it needs redoing thanks to the youngest Hmm

Vitalogy · 30/11/2018 08:25

I'm the same as you OP. Once it's finished I seem to move. Takes me a few years though

My neighbour seems to have a brilliant system in place. Every year, at the same time of year, the decorators arrive to do a room. There are there for a few days and then gone again until next year. I assume her house never gets to that point of "oh my god this room is a disgrace" and the costs are spread rather than having to do a whole house or numerous rooms at once.

I should add that she is in her 80's and lives on her own in a 3 bed property. So a)no children causing wall to be decorated in mashed Weetabix and spaghetti Bolognese, and b) she's lived long enough to be a proper grown up so I think her system must work quite well.

When I'm a proper grown up, I'd like to put her system in place! 😁

I love decorating - it’s my “thing” and I love seeing how a room is transformed by doing it so I probably redecorate each room every couple of years. It the only thing I spend my disposable income on. BlushGrin

Every year seems excessive. Having said that at my last home I redecorated my kitchen several times in quick succession because I kept changing my mind Blush We decorated before we moved into this house last year and I have no intention of redoing it any time soon.

Except the fucking kitchen—goddamnit what is wrong with me and kitchens?????

We've lived in current house for 8 years. We've decorated a couple of bedrooms, the hall, the living room, put in a new bathroom.

Kitchen and other bedrooms are how the previous occupants had them.

No idea how other people find the time, energy, motivation (leaving aside the cash) to decorate rooms every year. Maybe interior decor is their hobby? (and that's OK)
