To banish cat from the house?

At night.

Have rehomed the bloody thing in the garage.

We haven't had a litter tray indoors for over a year. Had an outside one for a while which she didn't use so I removed it. For the last few weeks, when it's been wet outside, she has been shitting in her bed. Two mornings in a row now I've come down to it.

I don't want an indoor tray again so have locked her in the garage with tray and food where she will go every night over the winter from now on.

DC think IABU but they're not cleaning up the shit and having to do two boil washes, one for bed, one to clean machine!

Sorry it that is totally unreasonable and cruel. No litter tray and then complaining that the cat poos.

How would you like it iaccess to the toilet was taken away?

Wintermam · 02/12/2018 08:01

As someone said above, try wood pellet cat litter lovely, we get a huge bag of the stuff for £5.99 where we live. We've just converted after our new kitten was peeing on our beds and she seems to have stopped (got her spayed too so that could be the actual reason why) and it smells so much less.
That said, I do actually clean it out every single day with bleach/Zoflora as I also hate the smell of the litter box but both my cats hate enclosed litter trays. It's just a case of trial and error my love but best of luck and hope you find a solution to get her back in the house soon Smile

Yidette86 · 02/12/2018 09:37

Evenbetter.... So what are you suggesting? The cat still stay with OP even though she's not meeting its needs?

wildewillow · 02/12/2018 09:47

How about we take away your toilet then see where you have to shit? Or even better lock you in the garage for the winter instead.
Re home your cat! Someone would love to give the little guy a loving, warm home!

Dollymixture22 · 02/12/2018 10:11

When I was a child my cat slept in the garage in the summer. She had a bed in there which was high up and filled with blankets. But even though the boiler was in th garage it did get too cold out there in the winter so she came inside and slept up tight against the radiator. She was in and out of the house during the day time.

If the poor cat must spend winter int he garage then make sure she has some form of heat. The microwaveable heat pads work well - I use of for my kitten during the day, inside the house. At night she sleep in my bed - under the covers if it gets cold!

evenbetter · 02/12/2018 10:12

Dunno Yidette, OP seemingly isn’t bothered, the cat will just end up yet another miserable pet, there’s nothing more to suggest, OP is ‘bored’ of all the offers of help and advice, but the constant ‘get it rehomed’ posts show a lack of awareness of how burdened rescues are. ‘Get it rehomed’=dump it in a rescue that already has a load of cats no one wants. Ideally people who don’t like animals shouldn’t inflict themselves on any creature to begin with.

DavetheCat2001 · 02/12/2018 10:26

Rosie cat doesn't think much of the OP

whoskeys · 02/12/2018 15:41

This is even weirder than the mum who was lambasted for wishing a hamster dead.
Some people need to get a grip.

Mercurial123 · 02/12/2018 15:48

whoskeys I would say it's the OP and others who think her behaviour towards her cat is acceptable should get a grip.

whoskeys · 02/12/2018 16:13

What exactly are the acts of cruelty though? Can I have a bullet point list? Because honestly, I see nothing that even comes close to neglect.

Mercurial123 · 02/12/2018 16:20

Seriously after reading all these messages you can't work it out?

yawning801 · 02/12/2018 16:24

Because honestly, I see nothing that even comes close to neglect.

How about the fact that the cat has nowhere to shit? How's that for starters?

whoskeys · 02/12/2018 17:40

It has the entire garage to shit in.....it chooses not to.
It shat in its bed ok, so it's ok with shitting in non-tray locations. This is an animal, if I shut a human in a garage with no toilet then, ok, but....animals shit anywhere when the need arises.
Jeez.

I still have to deal with a tray in the garage if she uses it,

Op has said here that she put a tray out for the cat...so.....the cat has literally everything it could need.

BumsexAtTheBingo · 02/12/2018 18:37

I doubt it has warmth. I’d love to know how the op is keeping her garage at a reasonable temp all winter.

yawning801 · 02/12/2018 18:41

Apart from, you know, warmth? And a LOVING home?

FeckingEll · 02/12/2018 19:55

I suppose I could just build a roaring log fire in there Hmm but I suppose she still wouldn't be getting luuurve Confused.

She doesn't get any love when she was in the house overnight. We were all in bed, asleep HmmConfusedShock.

It has been nowhere near freezing yet. Forecast is 10 degrees tonight. Her cat cave will be here before it gets proper cold.

Litter tray has not been used for the 3 nights she's been out there. Which says to me that I was right about her crapping in the house due to it being wet outside and not wanting to dig.

She has now been provided with a tray for when she doesn't want to go outside, in the garage, and suitable sleeping quarters.

Just to reiterate she's not a human, not a child, she's a cat!

I've read plenty of 'bastard' cat threads on here. Never have I seen the abuse on them, that I've had on here.

Lucky I can take it, isn't it.

Just to add, in the same way I obviously wouldn't make my DC in the garage, I also wouldn't let them roam the streets at night, jump the fence to go off into the forest alone, sit on top of the 6 foot fence, kill wildlife and eat it, lick their arses etc, etc but let's not conflate anything!

Flowerpot2005 · 02/12/2018 20:08

You're a heartless madam OP & you know it.

This boy loves being out but when it cold, he's here in front of the fire, as it should be!

Dollymixture22 · 02/12/2018 20:15

OP I don’t think you are going. To change your mind about the garage, would you hink about the heat pad? Ten minutes in the microwave and they stay warm for about 12 hours. You get them on amazon - not expensive. She can snuggle up against it when it get cold.

One it is freezing, please reconsider and bring her inside with a litter tray.

sj257 · 02/12/2018 20:17

I don’t see a huge problem with a cat sleeping in a garage. We have 3 cats and one goes out every night through choice! But if she’s being forced into there when she would quite happily poo in a tray in the house, then that’s a bit mean.

madcatladyforever · 02/12/2018 20:18

I would never refer to my cat as that cat she is a family member. It doesn't sound like there is any love for your cat at all.

skybluee · 02/12/2018 20:19

Why would she not want to dig when it's wet? Has this happened before? Maybe she has hurt her paw?

I'm glad she has access to a tray all night.

BumsexAtTheBingo · 02/12/2018 20:25

My cat is out more than in - including frequently being out all night but when it’s really cold she chooses to stay in - in a warm house not a cold garage.
What is a ‘cat den’? Is it one of those enclosed beds? That’s not going to prevent your cat being cold in a garage when the weather drops below freezing.
Cats aren’t the same as human kids in lots of ways but you should provide warm shelter year round for both.
