Normal baby spots?

Look normal?

AIBU to worry about every tiny thing? He's only 4.5 weeks old.

I don't want to rock up at GPs and waste their time if these are just normal spots...

Sorry I didn't post a normal pic. I'm new to mn and it wouldn't let me.

It's very normal.

I hardly have any photos if my DD2 at that age because she was ridiculously spotty and it looked even worse in otitis.

It's a hormonal reaction and nothing to worry about.

LODIO99 · 29/11/2018 20:57

Thank you @pastabest 🙏🏽

In photos. No idea what otitis is.

MaryShelley1818 · 29/11/2018 20:58

It looks sore, DS had spots but they didn’t look like that. Personally I’d get them checked out but not suggesting there’s a need to worry at all x

LODIO99 · 29/11/2018 20:59

@pastabest inflammation of the ear apparently!

Thanks @MaryShelley1818 - he doesn't seem bothered by them but they are very red.

Bless him, it’s probably something a little bit of cream will clear up (DS had infant eczema which disappeared in a week with Aveeno and never returned!) x

Pearofwisdom · 29/11/2018 21:04

Is he happy in himself? Normal nappies with no mucous? No excessive vomiting? I only ask because a rash like this could be a sign of cow's milk protein intolerance but there would likely be other symptoms.

pastabest · 29/11/2018 21:08

My health visitor told me they were milk spots (hormonal) and to just keep them clean and dry. Apparently particularly common in breastfed babies.

They cleared themselves up after a few weeks but it was quite upsetting for a while seeing them erupting all over the place on her face.

DC2 has absolutely fine skin now st 5months.

lizzlebizzle33 · 29/11/2018 21:09

Are you BF op? My son had this and hv said to put breast milk on his face, i wasn't sure but gave it a go and they cleared up really nicely x

LODIO99 · 29/11/2018 21:17

He's got really bad wind but other than that seems okay. No excessive vomiting, no... I'll definitely try the breast milk trick! Thank you!

LODIO99 · 29/11/2018 21:18

Yes he's BF :)

It's amazing stuff!

Willow2017 · 30/11/2018 15:58

My health visitor told me they were milk spots (hormonal)

LOL my HV told me that too only she said they were caused by the milk he drank! (breast fed btw)
TBH that was the straw and I asked to change hvs over other shite she spouted.

Probably “baby acne”. They do just grow out of it. You can give a gently wipe with a Muslin dipped in warm water then moisturise. See your gp, or maybe mention it at his 6 / 8 week check / jabs if it’s still like this.
