I think in some families it just isn’t the done thing. I smother my children with kisses but never on the lips. I was never kissed on the lips as a child either so it does seem weird to me. Not weird to the extend of being disgusting or abusive or whatever else people have been saying though.

This. It was not the done thing when I was a kid, and I had never done it with any of my children.

It is not necessary to kiss on the mouth to show between a parent and child - there are plenty of other ways to do so

That's the thing. It might not be for you,you might find it a bit odd and that's ok. What isn't is saying people who do are disgusting,creepy etc.

And no experience of it isn't an excuse. Where I come from kissing kids on the lips isn't a thing. My parents didn't do it with me, I didn't see anyone else do it with their children either, didn't bat an eyelid when I've seen it done over here.

But I dont agree on the breastfeeding comment. Breasts are designed for feeding babies. That is the deal - the fact that they look fabulous is secondary
