I need a creative outlet - something for me to get my teeth into. I am a keen baker but want to take it to the next level - can you please share knowledge / experience of where I would start? I'd like to learn how to ice like a pro & decorate etc.... anybody able to shed some light?

You tube! That’s where I’ve learnt to do it

I learnt off Youtube. So many tuition videos there.

Thirding YouTube! It’s abgreat resource. I am a sugarcraft teacher 💁🏼‍♀️ and have worked in many a bakery but I still refer back to YouTube sometimes to watch a tutorial - there’s every technique imaginable. cakestyle, zoesfancycakes, how to cook that, Yolandagamp, manaboutcake, there are countless channels!

i learnt from a sugarcraft book - you can buy them cheaply in charity shops, or i'm sure amazon.

a bit more old fashioned than youtube but it did the trick. i'm quite good!

Also voting for Yolanda’s ‘How to Cake It’ on YouTube, love her!

I'm a pastry chef and I agree with other posters. YouTube can tons of great videos. Other than that, it's all about practice practice practice. It takes time to learn technique and your own style. You can do it!

Practice, practice, practice. I use instant mash for practicing piping techniques.
