Just read an article about an American child who's name was mocked by an airline employee. Of course that's completely out of line. But honestly, who names their child ABCDE Confused

Is this post not perpetuating the mocking of her name?

empmalswa · 29/11/2018 10:03

Yes indeed. Let's never discuss anything.

FGS. Her name IS ridiculous. The child will have to go through this shit for life.

I didn't post to mock the child. I posted to discuss the absolute idiot parents who gave her such a stupid name in the first place.

It's awful.

I have heard worse but not recently. That's a genuinely terrible name. Poor little girl.

PermanentlyFrizzyHairBall · 29/11/2018 10:15

The employee shouldn't have mocked the poor little girl but god what were her parents thinking?

Sparklesocks · 29/11/2018 10:24

I think when parents give their children names like this it’s very telling that they don’t see their baby as a person, but a fun little accessory. Clearly they’re not thinking about them as an adult - applying for jobs, speaking publicly, filling in forms etc – a lot of organisations would probably assume it’s a fake name! They’ve already given their child a disadvantage in life which was completely avoidable.

Reminds me of this story:

Apparently in the US 328 little girls were named Abcde between 1990 and 2014. There were 32 little Abcdes in 2009 alone.
