To ask if you exercise in the morning, what time you get up?

I need to start fitting some exercise into my days.

However as it is, dh and I get up at 6.15, coffee, breakfast, dh leaves at 7am, then I get the dc up, get them ready and leave house at 7.45am for Work.

I get home first at around 5ish with both dc in tow, I then make dinner, we eat at 6.15 when dh gets home, then it's homework, reading books, clearing up and getting clothes and lunches ready for the next day.

Both dc are in bed at 8.30pm at which point dh and I both sit down until bedtime, at 10pm!

I get up at 6am each morning and run 5miles, home, shower go to work and do the same after work. However I have no kids to consider. I do this everyday and on days off I run 10 miles in one go.
Apart from my body looking far better it’s had a real impact on my moods. I’m generally happier than I was before

Tatgalore · 28/11/2018 16:15

Do you literally roll out of bed and straight out?

Prisonbreak · 28/11/2018 16:16

Pretty much. Brush my teeth and go. Have breakfast after

SlightAggrandising · 28/11/2018 16:16

Sounds like a punishing schedule OP, you must be cream crackered after that. I guess it's about setting a routine that you can cope with.

How about 0545 and a 30 min run to start with, DH can put the coffee on!

Gumbo · 28/11/2018 16:18

I get up at 05:00 and go cycling for an hour before the rest of the house is awake, then come home and shower and get dressed and have breakfast before 07:00. Morning exercise rocks Smile

Glitteryfrog · 28/11/2018 16:19

6.30. In the pool for 7am.
45mins swimming

Tatgalore · 28/11/2018 16:21

Well I definitely don't feel like running once the dc are in bed, especially not in winter.

If I got up at 6 I could probably do it, don't fancy getting up before 6 I'll be honest.

Up at 6, gear on and out the door at 6.05.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 28/11/2018 16:24

What are DC doing after school? Could they do homework before you collect them?

Take turns doing bedtime. I go to the gym roughly twice a week. Once DD has done her teeth and had her story I leave DH to sit with her and I head off. I'm back by 9ish and we still have time to sit and relax before bed.

Prisonbreak · 28/11/2018 16:25

Winter workouts make summer bodies

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 28/11/2018 16:25

Or DC can do homework while you make dinner?

AGirlinLondon · 28/11/2018 16:28

I get up at 0530 three days a week to exercise - but that’s so I can go and get to work on time afterwards. Payoff is that I am in bed at 9 and fast asleep. It doesn’t give me much of an evening but that’s my choice - also means I very rarely fancy a drink in the week. So you could say that I am very, very boring!! But I love getting it done first thing. Key is not trying to burn the candle at both ends.

Tatgalore · 28/11/2018 16:29

I suppose I could make time in the evening at least a couple of nights. It's more I'm knackered so I thought if I could force myself out first thing, I've done it then.

I'm up at 6. 20 minutes on the exercise bike in my PJs then I shower and get a wiggle on for the day.

First few days were tough but I'm in a happy little rhythm now. I know it's not enough exercise but it's more than I was doing.

Blobby10 · 28/11/2018 16:32

I currently get up at 5.15am, roll out of bed, wee, clean teeth, put gym kit on then run to gym half a mile away, there about 5.30 if I dont hit snooze Grin. Back home by 7am for breakfast and leave for work about 8am.

In the New Year I may have to start leaving for work just after 7 so contemplating a 4.30am start.

AGirlinLondon · 28/11/2018 16:33

I don’t know how people do it in the evenings - I think that takes way more motivation and life gets in the way!

MargoLovebutter · 28/11/2018 16:33

I'm up at 6.40, drop youngest at the school bus stop at 7.40 - drive on to the gym, work out, rinse off and then go to work.

Tatgalore could you do anything at lunchtime? I think at this stage in your family life trying to shoe horn in exercise at the beginning or end of the day might feel stressful. Even if you could just go for a brisk 20 minute walk at lunchtime that might be a start.

Blobby10 · 28/11/2018 16:34

Forgot to add that I have been getting up around 5am since I was 15 when I looked after Dad's horse and soon preferred early mornings to late nights. Once used to it, it became easy

babysharkah · 28/11/2018 16:39

Alarm goes at 607, precisely and in gym for 630 class. Enough time to put contacts in, get changed and brush teeth.

All completely irrelevant as kids are up from 530 but 607 is optimism time.

babysharkah · 28/11/2018 16:40

Optimum

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/11/2018 16:41

Up at 6 and out the door. Back by 7, showered, breakfast and at my desk (at home) to get my first report into other peoples inboxes before 9 am!

But that's mainly because DH gets up at 5.30, makes coffee and clatters around until about 6.30! I may as well get up and get out of his way! Smile

MysweetAudrina · 28/11/2018 16:42

Up at 6, drive to work, park car, yoga 7-8.

Ladyflip · 28/11/2018 16:43

Up at 5.50am, out the door just before 6 for a run. Back at 6.45 then through the shower and out with DC at 7.30. How old are the children? I can now leave mine while I go for a run and they can get themselves dressed but had to wait until they were old enough to manage that. I don't stop for a drink or breakfast before I go, literally wee and clothes on, grab dog and out.

I'm an early exerciser as it's done for the day then. Otherwise I would spend all day creating excuses for myself as to why I don't need to go.

necromumda · 28/11/2018 16:43

Im with you OP
Im up at 6 (in winter) and spend time looking at work emails, scehduling some fb posts, getting lunches ready, organissing uniforms then wake family 6.45 and out of the house at 7.30 am for school drop off.
IF i dont have a client in the morning, I can get a swim in from 8.30 - 9 ish .

Japril · 28/11/2018 16:44

Alarm set for 4.50. Exercise class 5.15-6, back home for 6.15. showered, kids sorted and leave house at 7.30 (more often 7.34 and then I get stressy about how I will be late for work and get into trouble!). Drop kids at breakfast club and get to work for 8am.
I should do this 5 days a week but if I haven’t managed to fall asleep before 10.30 I switch my alarm off as sometimes sleep is more important 🤷‍♀️
