To think I wasn't rude

Courier was meant to deliver a package that although they said had been delivered they didn't. Contacted them and they confirmed GPS location of drop of was wrong and that I should contact Amazon for replacement.
Unfortunately package contained the switch half of a bundle I bought on black Friday and amazon are now sold out.

They have said I can return the game and they will refund the amount I paid for both

I can still buy the items separately on amazon for £80 more. They won't budge on the only option is a refund.
Attached pic is the end of the conversation... to which the operator immediately disconnected.
I don't think I was rude. Was i?

I think you were. As does Amazon, so it doesn't really matter if you were or not. Hopefully you can get it elsewhere.

QueenofallIsee · 27/11/2018 22:24

You weren’t rude exactly, but the operator had nowhere to go with the chat. He should have gone into the whole ‘sorry you feel that way thing’ bu Amazon themselves value volume answered queries not service and he clearly didn’t have the authority to offer you the Black Friday deal after the fact. Annoying I know 😡 but the reason why Amazon are cheap but shite when you have a problem

HellenaHandbasket · 27/11/2018 22:26

A bit childishly sarcastic. And it really wasn't that big a deal in the first place.

HellenaHandbasket · 27/11/2018 22:27

Tbh I've always had awesome customer service from Amazon 🤷

Jackshouse · 27/11/2018 22:28

Yes you were. Sarcasm belittles people.

AuntieUrsula · 27/11/2018 22:30

I don't think that was rude - just telling it like it is.

I suppose there is no way you (or DPD) can recover the incorrectly dropped parcel?

TitaniumSodiumBorate · 27/11/2018 22:32

I was mostly frustrated that today is my child's birthday - He obviously didn't get a switch and I had the stress of dealing with courier, Amazon and the price now increasing by 25% . Life is busy enough with out being insulted by a £5 Sorry for something that has taken time effort and a lot more money to fix

OP posts:
Summer23 · 27/11/2018 22:32

I don’t think you were rude. Does the issue lie with the courier company? Why was the delivery address wrong? I wouldn’t be happy with this either. £80 more is a lot.

chocolatecoveredraisons · 27/11/2018 22:33

You weren't rude. You were frustrated. That sounds extremely annoying OP and I would continue to fight it

InfiniteCurve · 27/11/2018 22:34

I don't think that was rude, just blunt. And it does show how much Amazon values its individual customers, not much at all.
Their customer service has always consisted of the "your custom is important to us but I have no intention of either reading your communication, responding accurately to it or solving your problem" type of response though,so no surprise there.( Bitter, moi??)

TitaniumSodiumBorate · 27/11/2018 22:34

Will tone the sarcasm down in future.. what I really wanted to say was I don't fucking need this stress in my life, I already have enough shit going on you have been spectacularly unhelpful in resolving this problem.

My filter worked a bit!

OP posts:
Sugarsnappy · 27/11/2018 22:36

Normally I'd say it's rude but in this situation I feel it's justified. Perhaps if you complain they'll honour the deal?

MakeAHouseAHome · 27/11/2018 22:36

No you weren't rude and I wouldn't have let that drop. I find calling and speaking to someone - and then escalating as necessary - a more effective option.

HereBeFuckery · 27/11/2018 22:38

I agree, not rude. You were treated poorly and had a valid complaint. I'm a bit tired of companies pulling the 'we won't talk to you if you don't end every sentence with LOL hun xxxx but instead dare to voice your irritation'. It's feeble. I'd tweet them.

Tatgalore · 27/11/2018 22:39

Why can't the missing item be recovered?

Tatgalore · 27/11/2018 22:40

FWIW I think your time was justified and I think you should find get it. They really should honour their offer.

greendale17 · 27/11/2018 22:42

How much did you want then? £50, £100. Saying that can you really put a price on stress? Hmm

TitaniumSodiumBorate · 27/11/2018 22:42

The 4 emails to the courier included escalating it through their complaints department to get them to confirm to Amazon that the delivery postcode and the GPS record they had for delivery location did not match. This has taken 3 days and they promise a 90 minute response!
It's just my luck that trying to do something nice and lovely ends up being stressful and above budget!

OP posts:
theworldistoosmall · 27/11/2018 22:43

I think you were.
The £5 is standard. If you had been nice they would have offered you more. Last time this happened I asked if there was any way of getting the games tracked and re-delivered back to me. I didn't mind a wait if I knew they would be coming.
This couldn't be guaranteed and the full cost of the games was refunded.
Had another misplaced delivery yesterday. I didn't ask for anything and I have been given credit for the inconvenience which will buy the other game I wanted to buy. (I am going to stop buying games during Black Friday as they always go missing).

Shopgirl1 · 27/11/2018 22:44

Why was the address code wrong? If it was their error then I think you are correct and they should be sending you a replacement.

Mummymummums · 27/11/2018 22:45

But it's not the price of stress Greendale - the OP will lose £80 cash as she's lost the Black Friday deal. Whoever's fault the non-delivery is should meet that imo.

SummerStrong · 27/11/2018 22:45

I can understand your frustration, but sarcasm wasn't the best way to express yourself, it came across as childish and unreasonable (even though you are obviously right) you lost credibility with the sarcasm.

The operator who took your call probably did everything within his power (refunding and offering the standard £5 credit etc.) after dealing with countless complaints after Black Friday sale, and calls backing up I'm not surprised he cut the call.

As someone who deals with / serves Members if the public I can say I will never go out if my way for a rude customer, I have no time for them, i will however, bend over backwards and be as flexible as possible to assist a polite customer with any problems.

TitaniumSodiumBorate · 27/11/2018 22:45

Greendale17 I just wanted them to honour what I bought, but they won't because their own selling price is now more expensive. I feel it is unfair I end up paying £80 more if I order it from them again (although I won't be now) . Not my mistake and it's costing me more money.

OP posts:
steppemum · 27/11/2018 22:46

your first sentence in that last comment was pretty sarcastic.
If you want to get more, the basic rule is stay polite, but demand the moon!

So I would have stated the same thing, rather than sarcastically commenting on it.

"I am extremely dissatisfied with this service because..... I expect a goodwill charge of xx "

theworldistoosmall · 27/11/2018 22:47

If it's Dippy Parcel Delivery even with the correct details they would have gotten it wrong. My missing one from yesterday has the correct details, it's just been sent by delivery people to Cardiff. I'm in London and I know geography isn't my strong point, but even I know they aren't near each other.
