I'm in work , I be had a few snacks crisps sandwich etc and rubbish was in bin next to
Me
My new boss sits next to me , glances in the bin then says to me ' it's not good to eat too much '
I was so shocked I never even replied and he gave me a small smile and then we got on with what he had come over to discuss with me
I am overweight but now I feel like he is judging what I eat
On the one hand I’m furious and on the other embarrassed
Am I being a snowflake ?

He's being a twat regardless of how much rubbish is in there.

M4J4 · 26/11/2018 20:28

YANBU, he's a patronising twat. Next time have something ready to say like 'Please don't comment on what I eat, it makes me uncomfortable'.

If he persists, tell HR.

Merryoldgoat · 26/11/2018 20:28

No. I’d be furious and ask him why he’s concerned as it’s none of his business. But more ‘colourfully’.

HildaZelda · 26/11/2018 20:29

It doesn't matter whether you are overweight or not. He has no right to pass a remark like that to ANYBODY regardless of what weight they are. Twat.

tiredybear · 26/11/2018 20:31

If you feel hurt by it, it was wrong.

If it happens again, make sure you are ready with a reply, like M4J4 suggested.

Jacksback · 26/11/2018 20:35

I am normally very quick with replies and was going to say , sarcastically ,
‘ I didn’t know you were the food police ‘
But I was really taken aback so didn’t 😕

My boss did this to me once, I wasn't over weight, he checked my expenses and I'd ordered room service large pot of coffee in the morning and water/Diet Coke from the mini bar, all fine and allowable, but when he questioned what they were my mind went blank, to which he looked at me and said " it's fine if you need to eat two dinners, some people eat a lot"

🤣

lyndar · 26/11/2018 20:50

@Jacksback you are being over sensitive

MaryofMislethwaiteManor · 26/11/2018 20:54

He shouldn’t have said anything to make you feel bad but do you mean you had sandwich and crisps as a snack? That’s lunch OP.

Jacksback · 26/11/2018 20:58

No sandwich was lunch and some other stuff througout day
Tbh it’s not really about what I ate , it’s motre that someone who has worked with me for a few months thinks it’s ok to comment , I would never do that
