To not pay this bill?

Energy company that I left over two years ago have sent me a final bill and demand for payment. I don't have any information left from when I left them, as it was so long ago.

I've called them and they are quoting the meter readings for the time, which I have no idea if they are right or not. They are insisting I have to pay or they will carry on to enforcement.

Are they able to enforce this? Anyone know how to fight it?

You should have chased it up at the time. Of course you have to pay for the energy you used. Otherwise it's stealing and other people will have to foot the bill.

They are not allowed to back bill for energy used more than 12 months ago so you are wrong

How could she chase it at the time if she didn't know she owed it. She's not psychic!

Have you checked it’s genuine? A few scams doing the rounds with this in my local area

That's if you've never received a bill, they can't suddenly bill you for 5 years worth in one go.

I left the company, sent readings and paid my final bill.
