About my dodgy fallopian tubes?

Hello all.

DH and I are TTC at the moment. On cycle 5, but I had an HSG because of my history of peritonitis as a child.

Both tubes were blocked. Right hydrosalpinx. Left tube was totally blocked with what the radiologist described as "crud" but he cleared the left there and then.

Apparently I have a few months before it blocks again. I've been prescribed Clomid to try and get an egg from the good side in this time frame.

To be honest, I know iabu to post here without a real aibu. I would love to hear other people's experiences, though.

And here is my cat.

Shamelessly bumping for the mid morning crowd.

Good luck with tcc.
I've had one tube removed following an ectopic pregnancy, but conceived easily with just the one tube to get both by boys. Fingers crossed you get some fabulous news soon.

I had one of my tubes blocked. Due to endo which caused PID. I went on the endo diet (it worked), had one tube taken out (my doc said it was doing more damage to keep it because it could leak poison into my womb and cause miscarriage, as already had happened once before), He said if you're going to try do it in the next year. We then did IVF (we didn't want to wait and see), it worked we had twins.
A year later, thanks to the tube removal and the endo diet my doc said I had as much chance of conceiving as anyone else. So DH had the snip.

Good luck :)

You need the tube with the hydrosalpinx removing before TTC, it releases chemicals that are toxic to the embryo and will prevent conception.

No ivf clinic would allow you to start a cycle with a hydrosalpinx, I'm really surprised you have been advised to!

Lovely cat btw

TheTroublesomestTribble · 26/11/2018 11:24

X post donkey, sounds like you had a hydrosalpinx too...

ValidUser · 26/11/2018 11:29

Sorry, should have clarified - surgery next week for hydrosalpinx

Yes I did. It has to be gone before TTC.

TheTroublesomestTribble · 26/11/2018 12:51

Ahh, that's good...

If it helps at all, I am one of 6 siblings, all conceived and successfully carried (with small age gaps) after my DMum lost a tube to an ectopic pregnancy.

Good luck!

Thanks @TheTroublesomestTribble - only had that confirmed this Sunday (my gp is a saint!) and this morning we confirmed it'll be a clip rather than repair or removal.

They may even do a more permanent job on the left there and then.

Hopeful!
