If you exercise first thing in the morning do you literally get out of bed and immediately start exercising?

Apart from probably going to the toilet. I used to walk each morning. I now want to exercise from my house but can't seem to ever get round to it. I have an exercise bike. Do i change from my pjs first? Do i have breakfast first?

I swim early at least 3 days a week. Alarm at 5.15am, get changed into my swim kit, chuck on some leggings, trainers and a sweater, make a quick coffee and then jump in the car for the 20 minute drive to the pool. I'm swimming by 6am. I do have to pack my bag the night before otherwise I regularly forget something important (Goggles, hairbrush, deodorant and the worst one my pants on a least 2 occasions).

CakeNinja · 26/11/2018 22:44

Alarm at 5:40 three times a week, out of bed and into clothes I got out the night before.
Fill water bottle, get phone and keys, pick up gym bag (has my pass and headphones in) and go. Am at the gym just before 6 to start either spinning or gym.
I just don’t go in the evenings, and if I do, I’m not productive and end up sloping off to the spa!

@WhatYouGonnaDoKatie

Doesn't doing HIT wake the people in the rooms beside and below you?

WhatYouGonnaDoKatie · 26/11/2018 23:04

@Scifi101

Not that I know of! I’ve stayed in rooms next to colleagues and they’ve not mentioned it anyway! I tend not to do any thumpy jumping though, and I’m usually in bigger chain hotels that are pretty well sound proofed.

@WhatYouGonnaDoKatie

I stay in premier inns and travelodge and if somebody walks across the room above me I can hear it! I love to get my exercise out of the way in the morning.

Joe wicks has a couple of low noise workouts for hotel rooms

I used to exercise (at home) first thing in the morning. Would set my alarm for 5.00, get straight up, have a wee and get into my exercise clothes. I would be downstairs ready to go by 5.10am (if I was really prepared, I would get my weights ready before bed). Half an hour workout and in the shower by 5.45 which is my normal get up time if I'm not exercising.

I actually preferred it to working out in the evening as I do now as it got it done and out of the way but DH inconveniently wants to exercise with me and won't get up at 5.00am to do it Grin

PottyPotterer · 27/11/2018 17:03

I don't do anything before a decent coffee, then I do a hiit work out. Hiit workouts aren't all jumping around btw. The 'intensity' can be achieved doing low impact with weights and compound exercises. I'm very light on my feet and don't make much noise when exercising other than swearing.

HundredMilesAnHour · 27/11/2018 17:20

I go to the gym 4-5 mornings a week.

Drag myself out of bed. Loo. Teeth brushing. Shower (including washing my hair) - I can't function if I haven't showered. Moisturise face etc. Espresso & 1 square of Lindt 95% dark chocolate. Glass of water. Put gym kit on. Put hair up (usually still wet from shower but I will get sweaty anyway so no point drying it). Fill water bottle for gym. Fast walk to gym (5 mins). Wish I was still in bed. Wake up halfway through my gym session. Training for an hour. Walk home. Shower (again). If I'm working from home that day, make a leisurely breakfast of eggs and a skinny flat white before starting work. If I'm going into the office, run round like a blue-arsed fly getting dressed, slapping make-up on, drying my hair, finding the right jewellery, shoes etc. Leap in my car. Have breakfast (eggs, it's always eggs!) once I've been at work for an hour or so and caught up on any urgent emails/discussions.

Haven't read the whole thread so sorry if already mentioned. Pre breakfast high intensity exercise enhances your metabolism so great for weight loss but make sure you drink plenty of water before you start as your body dehydrates while sleeping.

TheOrigBrave · 02/12/2018 08:42

Wee, tea, go.

Am prize winning runner so it's obv a brilliant method!

smackbangwhollop · 02/12/2018 16:22

Yes, within 15 minutes before I wake up. 🤣

dollybird · 03/12/2018 21:27

I ache so much when I get out of bed in the morning I need a good 20-30 minutes for everything to settle into place. Also prefer to have a small bowl of cereal before going out for a run or I run out of energy and feel sick. Currently not running due to foot injury, but the rehab exercises make my foot hurt as much as running!!

Fakingit36 · 09/12/2018 10:10

I have never ever been able to do this thing of water/coffee only then work out. I keel over. I do a bike commute these days , immediately followed by weights at work gym twice a week. I like to be at my desk by 8. So I do alarm at 5, feed baby, then make egg /veg/toast /coffee breakfast and enjoy it. Assemble work outfit and packed lunch in bags. On my bike around 6.30 for dawn cycling. I do love it!
