Currently on 10mg escitalopram. My anxiety is through the roof and im not coping.

Did have discussion a while back about increasing to 20mg but i decided not to.

Have been on 40mg citalopram which is the same as 20mg escitalopram, in the past.

I just feel im losing the plot

Hi there - please go to your GP to discuss. It sounds as tho you are not coping and do need to increase, but you should do this with support from your doctor. He should also refer you to counselling. Has there been a trigger for this ?

LEMtheoriginal · 25/11/2018 19:43

Am on the waiting list for group therapy. I have had untold counselling. There is a trigger but i dont want to talk about it.

Sorry - you are right. Just getting an appointment is nigh on impossible but ill make one for my day off (thursday). If i can. Just i know dr will say ok but i also kniw it would be irresponsible to just take double.

Thing is - the trigger is trivial

The trigger may seem trivial, but it’s triggered a response that isn’t trivial. Please don’t beat yourself up about that. Accept it.

Also, don’t beat yourself up about the amount of counselling you’ve had. Mental health issues are a constant battle. You feel ok one minute, then you feel helpless the next. It doesn’t matter how much counselling you’ve had, it’s never a waste of time to work on yourself more with a professional.

If you don’t get side effects you could start taking double now, but I’d still book in to see your doc anyway.

Have you tried mindfulness ?

I feel so pathetic

You're not pathetic at all. In your position, I would (and have) increased my own dose but that's partly because my psych has a fairly cavalier attitude towards doses and I knew he'd be fine with it. You know yourself best though.

LEMtheoriginal · 25/11/2018 20:43

I might take extra half x

I went from 10 to 20 - it works better and I didn't find I had many side effects either starting or increasing the dose .

Try not to be hard on yourself OP. Mental health issues are very very tough

Sertraline changed my life but took whole to get dosage right
