Anybody else get these bloody demands for a photo from Facebook?

Facebook in it's wisdom has logged me out until I prove who I am with a photo! Hmm I can't log back in until I do this. It's madness. I'm not giving any photos out. I don't trust them. Anyone else had this? Until I comply, I can't get back into my account! Grrrr

That sounds strange. They must be using some kind of facial recognition. Don't give in to it. Surely there is some other method to get back in. IT is a bit like HMRC who earlier this year without apparently following data protection law and without giving opts out were trying to force those calling them by phone into recording voices for future recognition. They are now being investigated by the Information Commissioner not surprisingly.

Forgot to include a pic

It's bollocks because I'm locked out now & I've done nothing wrong!

That's outrageous. If you never upload photos to FB anyway, what on earth are they comparing it to in order to establish your identity? Confused

Snippetty · 25/11/2018 19:10

Thank god someone else thinks it's outrageous. None of my friends have ever heard of this. I'm really pissed off.

So how do they know it’s a photo of you and not of some random person?

Mysparklingpersonality · 25/11/2018 19:16

Sounds dodgy to me, have you tried googling this to see if it's some sort of scam?

Snippetty · 25/11/2018 19:25

Apparently, this is now a thing.

Article here

But I still don't want to do it. So now what? I'm bloody locked out! Angry

In the Telegraph too: here

Looks like that's the end of FB for me then because I refuse to do this. Sad

Take a pic of a magazine woman

Snippetty · 25/11/2018 19:31

They use recognition software to make sure the pic is unique.

Never heard of that before now, not sure how I like it. I have photos of me on Facebook but there's loads of ways to prove you're a human and not a computer not trying to get access. The writing a word/series of letters, matching pictures of things.
