My nails are crap and I want to cry

I am going to a event with work next week so I wanted to get my nails done as a treat. Im really chuffed to have been invited, it's black tie, and I've got a baby so can't often get things like nails done or go to these kind of things.

Anyway, I've just noticed the varnish on both my nails and toes looking all bubbly, thick and gloopy and peeling off! I spent £50 so I'm really disappointed.

The salon is closed on Sunday's and Mondays so I can't pop in to have them re-done.

Wibu to complain publicly on their Facebook? I'm really pissed off!

I would send a message privately to the salon expressing your concerns and then if a response isn't good enough then go public

dementedpixie · 24/11/2018 21:47

Was it gel nails? They should last weeks not a few days

Cherrysherbet · 24/11/2018 21:47

Give them a chance to put it right. These things happen sometimes.

Raven88 · 24/11/2018 21:51

When did you get them done?

Yoyooo · 24/11/2018 21:52

Yeah gel extensions and toes. I got them done this afternoon.

Can you post a photo?

itsbetterthanabox · 24/11/2018 21:55

Contact them first asking for advice and a redo.
So it was hard gel extensions? And gel polish on the toes?
Post a pic.

Darkstar4855 · 24/11/2018 22:00

Message them privately first with photos and see how they respond. At least give them a chance to put it right.

mimibunz · 24/11/2018 22:06

Sorry OP. Once you have this sorted please get a proper manicure and then wait for 2 weeks. See how your nails grow out. Then have another manicure, no fake nails, just yours. So many women destroy their nails when all they need is a manicure

Cheerbear23 · 24/11/2018 22:13

It gel nails shouldn’t go bubbly. They should also last 2-3 weeks. Definitely complain, they should re do them for you, it doesn’t sound right. Maybe their polish was old?

ohwownosnow · 24/11/2018 22:16

Send a private message first

Yoyooo · 24/11/2018 22:18

The varnish was definitely old there was hardly anything in it and they had to keep it upside down. They kept mentioning now thick it was because the bottle was nearly empty and they threw it away when they had finished.

Take pics and send them to the salon owner right away. You should get your money back.

Mummyshark2018 · 24/11/2018 22:23

Take a load of pics and phone them when they open and ask them to redo. If they don't believe send them pics

alltoomuchrightnow · 25/11/2018 00:09

Nope they shouldn't go bubbly..
Can I just ask though..do you have a thyroid problem?
Sometimes gels don't last on me, and ping/peel off so I've stopped having them done. I was told that if you have underactive thyroid (which I do) it can make your nails reject gels, no idea if this is true or down to bad technician but i've had this happen at many places , cheap and pricy

alltoomuchrightnow · 25/11/2018 00:10

Hmm old varnish sounds dodgy though

Lallybroch · 25/11/2018 02:06

I had a similar problem (the girl no longer works for the salon that I went to) and apparently the type of UV light /size of machine they use can cause this problem.

chaoscategorised · 25/11/2018 03:29

The gel layers being too thick can cause this - it doesn't cure properly under the light because it's thick and then if lifts. I'd complain, any decent salon would be mortified.

EnglishRose13 · 25/11/2018 06:53

I had my nails done at a salon before I went to America (to get married!). They all started to chip and peel within a day because the "beautician" kept turning the light off so it didn't cure properly - which I only understand the significance of now I do my own nails. I had to take it all off before my wedding. I was extremely pissed off. The woman could not have cared less. I didn't get a refund or an offer to redo them. The salon didn't last very long, though.

If you're in the south west, I can help redo them. Or post on your local Facebook. I'm sure someone will be willing to help!
