To want a rear-facing stage 1 car seat that fits with a seatbelt?

We don't have our own car but use hire cars, parents cars etc a couple of times a month. Our 15 month old has basically outgrown the infant seat now, even though she's small, and we need to buy the toddler seat before the Xmas holidays.
I would rather choose one which rear faces until age 2 as the evidence for that is so strong, but as we don't have a car of our own we need one which fits a lot of models of car with the seatbelt rather than Isofix. This seems impossible to find!
Any recommendations, wise parents of Mumsnet?

Joie stages?

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 23/11/2018 22:03

We have the Hauck Varioguard. You fit the base with a seatbelt and then clip the seat on.

MrsSquidney · 23/11/2018 22:04

We have a Joie everystage that seatbelts in and will rear face until 4 years old. Handily it also forward face from 4-12 years old!

Another vote for the joie stages. We have one for grandparents cars and our 3yo is still RF in it.

Joie steadi?

Is available cheaper elsewhere.

Doboopedoo · 23/11/2018 22:05

Joie Every Stage rear faces to 18kg/4 years and can be seatbelted. Only downside for my DD was outgrowing the rear facing just before she turned 3 (but she is a taller girl)

Britax two way elite

Xiaoxiong · 23/11/2018 22:27

We had the same issue, and had the Britax two-way elite.

Sparrowlegs248 · 23/11/2018 22:29

Another vote for the britax.

Joie tilt. I use it for various cars. Easy to fit.

gallicghoul · 23/11/2018 22:30

Britax two way elite. Extended rear facing up to 25kg.

Joie every stage was in the Which? 'don't buy' category- because it uses a tether but I wouldn't trust it.

Parents have the Joie stages and our 3 and a half year old still fits in it. It's light to change between their cars and we've borrowed it for a holiday when we needed to get taxis too and it's quite lightweight

LiquoricePickle · 23/11/2018 23:26

Joie stages is great.

garethsouthgatesmrs · 23/11/2018 23:28

we have just ordered joie stages. the rilt also fits the bill but is cheaper and reviews say it's less sturdy.

Britax two way elite

I have two Joie stages.
One’s been used for ds7 since he was around 9 months old rf til about 5ish and still in use now (he’s on the 4th centile).
The other has been used from birth for dd4 and she’s still rf in it (roughly average height and weight). She’ll be using it as long as possible.

arapunzel · 23/11/2018 23:47

Another vote for Joie Stages - seat belt fit, extended rear facing until age 4, and can be used up to age 12 forward facing if needed.
We have one car seat, but two cars, takes 5 mins to fit

JudasPrudy · 23/11/2018 23:48

Joie Tilt RF until 4 with seatbelt. Got mine for £65 on sale in Smyths.
