I paid near £100 for this
Up try and upload pics of what I asked for plus what I got

I would. I can do a better job with a box colour.

Bigonesmallone3 · 23/11/2018 12:45

Could do with a few highlights through it.. I'd be pretty pissed if I paid £100 for not what I'd asked for but not sure what u went in with

hidinginthenightgarden · 23/11/2018 12:46

Its hard as you should really of said when she asked you at the end what you thought. Stuff like this is much harder than it should be though so maybe ring her and explain.
I wouldn't be happy with it.

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 12:47

She was a hour late starting my hair too :-(
Was meant to be a nice early Christmas treat
She's said next time it will lighten up
She's said because I have such dark hair it has to lift gradually

OP posts:
BloodyWorried · 23/11/2018 12:49

Did she explain it would take a few treatments before she started?

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 12:50

No ..she did do a strand test last week too.
I said will this lighten up ok and she said yeah.
I'm going to condition it really well and try again end of January I think

depends on what your hairs history is. did you have virgin hair when you went to the salon or had it previously been coloured?

its not always possible to achieve that amount of lightness in one sitting and 50mins is more than enough time for lightner to be left on and do its job without damaging your hair. it could be that they toned it after and the toner just went a bit darker than anticipated but will fade when washed.

either way the stylist should have had a proper consultaion and managed your expectations.

starfishmummy · 23/11/2018 12:56

Oh dear. Think she saw you coming.

rafffy · 23/11/2018 12:56

sorry cross posted.

if the stylist had explained the process and outcome then it is unreasonable to complain.

if you want to complain about the service you recieved if it wasnt acknowledged that you had to wait an hour, then write them an email.

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 12:58

My hair was coloured around 6 months ago now so not virgin hair.
Il give it one more try to lighten it and then accept my hair just won't lighten.

OP posts:
itbemay · 23/11/2018 13:03

This happened to my daughter, and hers did lighten up eventually but she did go back and they tried again

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 13:04

I guess considering how dark I am it's understandable really.
Always disappointing tho when you never look like the picture.

I have naturally dark hair and dye the roots the same colour.
I had balayage done and it looked amazing! I loved it. Took a couple of hours, but no repeat trips needed. I just don't think she's done a great job. Sorry.

Sarah22xx · 23/11/2018 13:07

I'm a hairdresser, no disrespect but she could of got that lighter in one sitting without ruining your hair. Personally I would go back in and ask to have it fixed

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 13:10

@Sarah22xx really?
Can I ask do you think my hair is too damaged to take another go ?

OP posts:
Hoppinggreen · 23/11/2018 13:27

I have every dark hair and I have Balayage
It’s light straight away and doesn’t need a few goes at it
Complain,

Hoppinggreen · 23/11/2018 13:41

Very dark hair I mean

rafffy · 23/11/2018 14:09

im surprised sarah22xx that youve agreed with complaining and going back. have you read the whole thread, particulary the post where the OP states the stylist done a strand test the week before and the bleach was left on for 50mins?

OP if you went to any stylist worth their salt they would explain to you that while they could get your hair lighter in one sitting, they would also be damaging and ruining your hair, and instead of writing a post complaining about the colour, you'd be writing a post complaining about the condition of your hair.

trust that the stylist has had your hairs integrity in their best interests. please also remember that everyones hair is different and what can be done on one person cant always be done on another.

KungFuPandaWorks · 23/11/2018 14:36

Each hair takes differently, so someone coming on saying they had jet black hair and the baylage worked first time isn't helpful in the slightest. It does sound like she knows what she's doing but to help my opinion better have you got a picture of your hair before the salon? So I can compare the two. Because in all honesty £100 is a lot if you don't think it's lightened that much!

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 14:43

This was my hair before

OP posts:
steff13 · 23/11/2018 14:45

When I got my balayage, it took about 5 hours, all at the same visit, also on dark brown hair. This is how it turned out.

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 14:46

@steff13 that's lovely
I wish mine had turned out that nice

OP posts:
KungFuPandaWorks · 23/11/2018 14:46

My opinion has changed, £100 and there's not that much difference at all. Will you be paying £100 next time aswell? And is she confident she can get it to the correct lightness like in your photo you showed her? What's her POA if on the 2nd attempt she can't get it as light as your photo, will there be a 3rd 4th 5th time?

I'd expect it to be a bit lighter than what she achieved, I understand her not wanting to frazzle your hair but there isnt much change at all.

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 14:48

I said yesterday in jan will it deffo get lighter? She said oh yeah deffo.
Maybe I have hair that bleach can't change the colour off 🤷‍♀️
