Give it a curl u might feel better

Pigeonpies · 23/11/2018 14:51

After years of home colouring by hair chocolate brown it took a good year to get full on blonde. The only thing that'll bring the colour up is if it's under heat or in foils. If it's just brushed on and left then it'll only lighten slightly and may even appear brassy.

I had 2 'goes' of what you had and it never got lighter. Then I asked for colour using foils and sat under a lamp, had toner and bam! Blonde hair with no brass colour and my hair is still in good condition.

I've been going dark to blonde and back again since I was 16 (36 now) and heat/foils is the only combo that's worked straight away

BonusPoints · 23/11/2018 14:52

I'm not being funny but I had mine done recently and this is the results. I think my hair was darker than yours at the start. It did take 5 hours but it lifted really easily. I would complain.

My professional opinion, she's full on taking the piss out of you.

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 14:53

Wow @BonusPoints that's gorgeous
Did you use foils? Or just painted on?

AG1x · 23/11/2018 14:54

It doesn’t look like it’s changed colour at all really?
I’m always changing from dark to blonde/balayage, and whilst it does take time to the desired look, my hair has always been noticeably lighter after one session.
I wouldnt be happy with that and think I would ask to go back.

AG1x · 23/11/2018 14:56

And agree with a PP that foils are always better than painted on

BonusPoints · 23/11/2018 14:56

@lindey0 she used foils.

The above was a few days later to show that it does still lift but I can't see yours getting much lighter, it barely looks any different.

Reminds me of the time I bought a Wowcher for a "dip dye". The "hairdresser" literally laid me back in the basin and dipped my hair in a pot of blonde dye. Bearing in mind how dark my hair is naturally, you can imagine that nothing happened! On that occasion I didn't complain as was so desperate to get out of there!

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 15:00

Do you think a toner might help?

OP posts:
BonusPoints · 23/11/2018 15:02

Yes, did they not use a toner?!

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 15:04

She did ...god knows what it looked like before

Hang on..... your other thread says you were still waiting at 13:05. Have I got the days mixed up? Confused

HollaHolla · 23/11/2018 15:10

Sorry - I am confused with days.... jetlag. :(
I think you should go back to the hairdresser and complain. Sounds like rubbish service yesterday, and not the result you were after.
I have very dark, almost black hair, and I got to be quite caramel toned in one sitting.

rafffy · 23/11/2018 15:12

a toner will not lighten your hair.

£100 is a lot of money but honestly, thats actually quite reasonable for balayage.

id be really surprised if the toner youve had on doesnt fade.

why dont you get a second opinion from another reputable salon? that way you can be sure.

JaggyJumper · 23/11/2018 15:17

If you had a toner on there is a good chance it is a darker toner and will fade up but as you had colour already on your hair it is harder to lift. To the posters saying that theirs did not everyone’s hair is the same as it depends on underlying pigment and texture also when lightening hair

lindey0 · 23/11/2018 15:19

@HollaHolla that was yesterday ha ha
I should have left before it even began I think.

queenrollo · 23/11/2018 15:25

To be honest after the way you were treated yesterday and then being so disappointed with the result I would go back, ask for my money back and go elsewhere.

I use a high end salon and the owner would have a blue fit if he knew one of his clients was treated like this.
I had my hair lightened, it was a long process that took us over the lunch break. They actually offered me a lunch and made sure that when my stylist took his break I had another top stylist assigned to me while he was away.
That is how you treat a valued customer.

Jaxhog · 23/11/2018 15:26

Complain. If she did a strand test then she should know whether your hair would lighten as much as you wanted and told you either way. At the very least they should redo it.

sugarbum · 23/11/2018 15:28

My hair is very dark brown, but when I had balayage it lightened up way more than that. Ignore the unstyled look! There's no toner on this. I'm going to dye it red next week...

Danteinferno · 23/11/2018 15:29

I have very dark hair and had it balayage last year it came up much lighter than yours. I would go back and get a refund then go find someone else to do it for you

sanpelle · 23/11/2018 15:30

I paid £100 for full head bleach, tone and cut and blow dry. It took 4 hours. That's the standard price. Sorry OP but I think she's having you on! I hope you get a refund. I don't trust many hairdressers these days for this exact reason!

Rarfy · 23/11/2018 15:30

If she used a toner chances are that it will lighten over the next week or so.

My thoughts when i saw you poc of what you got vs what you asked for was that in a few washes it will be pretty close.

That being said, if you had hoped for it to be lighter and you are not happy ring them. They can definitely get it lighter and will have to products to do so. I would consider a decent cut though if putting more bleach on. Did you have much taken off the length yesterday?

campbellsmum · 23/11/2018 15:31

I had very dark box dyed hair and it took two goes with olaplex to go fully blonde, my hair was of course dryer but defo not ruined at all. The first balayage was a lot lighter than this! I'd definitely go back and say it's not made any difference! If she did a strand test and thought it would lighten fine then she was clearly wrong, why should you suffer x

Rarfy · 23/11/2018 15:32

I would definitely say she hasnt gone high enough up the lengths of your hair with the bleach and it could do with more lighter bits to make a bigger difference.
