I think it’s harder (but not impossible) to lift coloured dark hair. It’s much easier with virgin hair.

I had highlights last week and a root tint. Last week before going in, I had virgin dark regrowth, with lighter brown roots (from previous root tints) and blonde mids/ends. All of the highlighted hair lifted to blonde in all sections of my hair, even the regrowth/old root tint. However it probably wouldn’t have if I had coloured dark hair instead of natural dark hair if that makes sense, as it’s more difficult to remove previous colour

To be honest OP - I would just ask for a refund. The waiting time and the results are absolutely unacceptable. I refuse to believe that she’s an in demand stylist Grin I would have thought you did your hair yourself rather than at a high end salon

Your highlights look darker at the ends than at the top/mid lengths!

I have very dark hair and can get balyage to a decent shade in one go! I wouldn't be to impressed either.
It looks darker at the ends as well

It does doesn't it.
Such a disappointment
I'm not confrontational either so going back saying I'm disappointed fills me with nerves

I used to be like that, but I have definitely become more resilient and ready to confront. She has absolutely mugged you off on your visit, everything from making you wait for 1-2 hours, doing a shit job and charging you full price (I’m assuming). You can’t let people treat you that way, especially as you were really looking forward to this. I would be demanding a resolution, politely, but standing your ground.

It might help if you start to address it in facts eg I’m disappointed ‘as I waited for 2 hours’, ‘my hair was rushed’, ‘I’m not happy with the results, this wasn’t what we discussed’ , I’m not happy paying full price, can you fix it or refund me?

Would it help to take a friend/partner /family member with you? Even if they just sit in the same room as you whilst you call the salon?
