To have vbeen sick and not know whether to take more medication

I felt unwell last night and slept through taking my amitriptyline. I woke and took ths with water at 2:45 i was then sick at 3 sand do not know if i should take more medication.

I wouldn’t. You’d be surprised how quickly you can absorb medication and you can’t be sure how much you’ve absorbed.

I dont think much has been absorbed as i would usually feel sleepy but am not now.

Taking too much can have all sorts of side effects, including changing your heartbeat and seizures, so it isn't worth the risk.

You would have absorbed some of it, so you haven't missed a dose.

Thanks. I am on a low dose 10 mg so i dont think those side affects are likely.

I see that the maximum dosage is 150mg so I doubt you're going to come to any harm if you accidentally take 20 instead of 10mg.

Personally having taken the drug for years I'd not think an accidental 20 rather than 10 would cause lasting harm BUT since you already feel unwell all you need is to wake up with a double-ami hangover. Yukkkk. If i were you and I'd been up vomiting in the night I'd ignore the amitriptyline and go baby your poor stomach rather than putting drugs in it. Missing a dose of amitriptyline won't harm you, but taking extra could make you feel sicker (or, as others have said might be detrimental to your system) so I wouldn't. Maybe you could speak to a pharmacist in the morning if you wake in pain? They should be able to guide you.

I'm no medical person though. So my advice is ask your pharmacist in a few hours when it opens.

I plan to take a dose once i have dealt with my morning. I am in too much pain to rest comfortably and think i need a good sleep today. I think it was more sickness with a cold rather than an actual upset stomach.

I am such an ideot looked at the packet and my dose is 1 to 2 at night.

I also looked at the packet and realised i must have missed taking one on wednesday. While i do have a cold i wondwer if the headache flu like feeling are a ctually withdrawal.
