To ask you for car seat recommendations for 4 year old?

She has been rear facing in a Cybex Sirona until last month when she could tolerate it no longer. We have now turned it round to face forwards but she doesn’t like the impact shield and quite frankly neither do I.

So plan is to move 1 year old from Silver Cross Simpicity into the Cybex (rear facing again) and to put four year old in a booster.

Any recommendations? The price ranges look massive. Can I spend £40 on one or should I be spending £300?

Wanted a proper harness for longer plus isofix

Glitterbabe69 · 23/11/2018 01:05

That seat only does upto 18kgs using the harness, so same as the seat the original poster already has then it needs to be used with the seatbelt.

Look at the Britax Romer kidfix range especially the one with the crotch guard that prevents the child from submarining under the seatbelt which is the best suited to children at the younger age range for this type of seat.

I’ve Just been looking into this as my 3 year old is nearing the 18kg limit on his car seat but I don’t think he’s ready for a seatbelt. I think we’re going with the Joie Bold, which harnesses to 36kg. It’s isofix but you need a top tether on your car.

Waggily · 23/11/2018 07:34

Sorry, just checked, it harnesses to 25kg.

There's a really good facebook page called carseat advice UK who can advise you.

I recently went on to find a carseat for my 4 year old daughters grandparents car and found the joie trillo was recommended. It's £40 in boots. (FF seat belted)

mindutopia · 23/11/2018 08:56

We have a Joie Trillo and have been really happy with it. We moved ours at 4.5. Generally speaking, the high back boosters rare pretty much all the same, so there’s no reason to spend a silly amount of money on one.

Highly recommend graco nautilus elite car seat, had a bad car accident and this seat performed brilliantly. Went straight out and bought another one for the new car.

Another vote for the Car Seat Advice UK group on Facebook. Run by experts and you get lots of great advice. To answer the question, we have a Cybex S-Fix

dUHcknotdOOk · 24/11/2018 07:32

The graco seat will only harness to 13kg rearfacing, 18kg forward facing..
