So it's quite a busy fancy hairdressers ..thought I would treat myself.
My apt was at 12...got here at 11.45 and it's 13.07 and I'm still sat in my gown waiting.
She's started another client about 20 mins ago..
So I'm worrying I won't get to school on time
Aibu to be getting a bit annoyed now ?

Do you mean she's offered to give you treatment you weren't originally going to have for half the price?

If so, that means she's charged you a tenner for the privilege of being kept waiting!

Apologies if I've read that wrong.

lindey0 · 22/11/2018 14:43

Yeah she says when she washes the colour off she will give me a half price treatment to strengthen it for half the price

BarberellaWife · 22/11/2018 14:46

So as well as being late and messing you about, she's also managed to get more money off you for it too?!
I would not be happy with that at all! She should have given it to you for free or offered a discount on the services you had actually booked in for!

tinygirlsmum · 22/11/2018 14:48

The "treatment" is only ever conditioner left on for a bit so you feel special and she can make a start on the next client and try and make up some time!!!! (Ex hairdresser)

SushiMonster · 22/11/2018 14:48

Don’t take the additional treatment! You’ve been kept waiting an hour and you’d like an apology and a discount on the cut.

BookwormMe · 22/11/2018 15:03

Hang on, she wants to charge you £10 for a treatment you haven't actually requested as a reward for being kept waiting for an hour?? She's really taking the piss now!

BookwormMe · 22/11/2018 15:04

Plus, as tinygirlsmum says, she wants to leave a treatment on so she can start on someone else and you'll end up being there even longer!

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 22/11/2018 15:06

No you should get a discount on what you're already having - not money off something extra!

DeaflySilence · 22/11/2018 15:07

"She has offered me a half price treatment £10 instead of £20"

So having made you wait over an hour, she's getting an extra tenner out of you for slapping on some colour enhancing conditioner that will cost her less than a pound.

Tangledweb0 · 22/11/2018 15:09

No do not acccept the half price treatment!
They are late and then trying to sell you a product you didn’t want to begin with! It doesn’t matter if it’s half price!
It should be free with another 10-20% off your bill!
Shocking customer service.
My hairdresser is sometimes twenty minutes to half an hour late and they are busy I’m fine with that but over an hour is too much.

Tangledweb0 · 22/11/2018 15:10

Show them this thread and tell them you will put the name of salon on as well.

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 22/11/2018 15:11

Don't pay for a treatment ffs! She's having a laugh 🤦🏻‍♀️ cheeky mare.

sunglasses123 · 22/11/2018 15:14

I used to many years ago go to Richard Ward in Sloane Square. They were awful for keeping you waiting. I wasn't an IT girl or anyone special so I attended my last appointment (didn't want to complain in case they gave me a rubbish haircut!) and then when I went to pay asked for the Manager.

Manager wasn't around so sent in a letter of complaint saying that they were often 1 hour late and that it was clear something was going very wrong as it was not just me they were doing it too. Ten years later I am still waiting for a reply....

MawkishTwaddle · 22/11/2018 15:20

This isn't a salon in York is it, OP? Sounds a familiar MO to one I stopped going to...

sunglasses123 · 22/11/2018 15:20

Most hairdressers do take this thing very seriously. No one on both sides thinks over an hours wait for a haircut is acceptable. Unbless they have people queuing out the door to use them they will soon find that out. My previous hairdresser well outside London charges nearly £100 for a cut and blow dry. People are paying it because its a nice area and its him but I have walked with my feet. There are other very good hairdressers around here now that I know the area much better.

I agree with others. Don't pay £10 more overall for something you didn't want in the first place!

Hannnnnnnxo · 22/11/2018 15:25

Haha she should be giving you the treatment for free!

You’re paying full price on top of a naff treatment? Which will wash out by next week? My god she’s taking you for a mug

halcyondays · 22/11/2018 15:28

I'd have been a bit annoyed long before now, that's ridiculous.

SillyPsychicAcid · 22/11/2018 15:29

I had similar once, but it was a busy Saturday before Christmas, someone had phoned in sick and they were desperately trying to fit everyone in as it was all people getting their hair done for Xmas parties and nights out.

I got as much fizzy wine and mince pies as I wanted while I waited, profuse apologies and a free curly blow dry off the junior after she’d cut it. Plus a tenner off.

halcyondays · 22/11/2018 15:29

I wouldn't have stayed for an hour.

Hannnnnnnxo · 22/11/2018 15:38

To be fair, something similar happened to me with my old salon (high end). He was running really late so was trying to make up time with each appointment, he was lovely and apologetic but unfortunately I did feel like he rushed my hair colour.

I had a root tint with highlights, he applied the highlights all over but then brought in a second stylist to do my root tint over the highlight foils with him. They both took a half of my head, and the side his colleague did was awful. It was uneven and made the highlights on that side look stark and like thick stripes, but his side was perfect. He ended up fixing it and not charging for the highlights - the contrast between the two sides was that awful

LemonBreeland · 22/11/2018 15:40

By giving you a half price treatment that you didn't request she is essentially making £10 more out of you. Don't put up with that. I would want a discount on the thing I went there for.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 22/11/2018 15:46

That happened to me at an upmarket place. The hairdresser arrived late because she had been shopping, was sloppy and left early to do I can't recall what.

No apologies from the salon and just the briefest of acknowledgements from the hairdresser herself meant that I never went back there.

dontalltalkatonce · 22/11/2018 15:52

Why the fuck did you stay there? You should be getting it for free. There's one born every minute, I guess. I'd have walked out after half an hour.

BewareOfDragons · 22/11/2018 15:55

Do you mean she's offered to give you treatment you weren't originally going to have for half the price?

If so, that means she's charged you a tenner for the privilege of being kept waiting!

That's absolute bollocks that she's doing that ... you should decline and tell her you want a decent discount for what you actually came in to have done since she's wasted a large chunk of your time.

FearLoveAndTheTimeMachine · 22/11/2018 15:57

Sorry but I’m genuinely laughing in surprise that you agreed to give her an extra tenner! For a ‘half price treatment’ 😂

If she really wanted to retain your custom she’d have given you a free ‘treatment’ (they’re bullshit anyway though, your hair should come away feeling fab from the standard wash cut and dry, like others have said it’s just conditioner) and knocked a tenner or more off the bill.

I feel sorry for you cos it’s horrible when you treat yourself and it goes so wrong but she really saw you coming?
